Secretly happy that nobody seemed to want the DX2000 at a reasonable price.
Gumby changed my life. Pokey wasn't involved.
Audio is a confusing and expensive world with diminishing returns
It's not for everyone.
If it was cheap and easy then there probably wouldn't be forums for it.
Hybrid MTBs can be pretty good. Bought a Decathlon Riverside. With some tweaks a very fun bicycle.
Enjoy! It's a slippery, expensive but fun slope if you get the bug :-)
never seen so many WTB ads in a row. we're movin on up in the world, just look at our marketplace.
Any AK JR owner's out there? I'd appreciate your thoughts about about how much it benefits using with an external/desktop amp via line out.
https://i.imgur.com/fjwgR7v.jpg ...Vali 1 back in rotation! Love the sound and... the ringing ritual
Kind of like a friends reaction to the Monoprice M1060. Somehow he knows it's there along with other issues, but filters them out after a few minutes. I can't. Tried for most of a Saturday. Nope.
Kinda I guess, unlike the M1060 ][from what I've read] the ringing actually does subside with the Vali 1... that is and has always been the case. I just have to turn it on, plug the cans in and let it sit, not super convenient but for $68 I dare you to find a better sounding little amp!!!
Gave my vali 1 to my brother a couple years ago. I still miss it. Groovy little amp.
My recent music downloads would totally confuse any recommendation algorithm
@earnmyturns I think that sounds fantastic ! Enjoy! :)
Yes! I hate when a service latches on to a few albums and quits showing me all the other stuff.
Finally heard the Garage 1217 Horizon III with an excellent LPS. Should be on HD800 amp list for sure.
Right! I really need to configure a nice LPS for mine...
FWIW, that LPS is pretty much the best you can get. They were close to $1000 when they were current and the measurements are insane. You're extracting the best the Horizon has to offer.
Made a small edit to my status! BTW, I got to bed really late (early?) last night. Addictive.
Pointer Sisters and Monty Python referenced in the same thread - well done!
Mmm still can't decide if having tubes in the MJ2 is a waste of time.
Anyone got any idea why Audio Geeks has the Andromeda and Vega listed as discontinued? It's probably just to prevent discounted sales but
last time they just had everything as unavailable or out of stock.
See below link for info:
Where is my coffee?
Make it yourself...
L'shana tovah and a sweet year to those celebrating, btw.
Still the most sci-fi looking headphone on the market - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=247&v=bAdqazixuRY
As someone who's never owned one, it's very visually striking in person every time I see one in person.
They are so alien that people continue to wear them backwards at meets. Whats up with that?
I'm curious: how noisy are all of your listening environments? Still live with my parents and sibs, so 30 or 40dB average ambient.
I'm not sure how accurate the NIOSH app on my iphone is but I average around 34db. I didn't realize it until recently how much noise my computer made.
Hum, so it seems higher-noise environments are rather common, at least insofar as the respondent sample makes it seem, haha.
I'm sure many more people have dedicated listening rooms that are quiet enough to be able to hear how many ants were present in the studio at the time of recording, but I'm starting to wonder if I can't maybe get away with a fully-open set and just living with slightly higher volumes.
Yeah, I'm fully open at 30db and it's no problem IMO. I don't think I listen that loudly.
Is this a good setup for bedroom Stereo/HP: Nvidia Shield Pro w/NAS > Emotiva-CMX2: #1) Vanatoo T1 Stereo & #2) Cthulu—Eitr—Mimby—Magni3—HP?
Anyways, this is what I need to figure out...
What's best to get for a max budget of $800, downstream, for a great Audio-chain (though not required, but I do prefer Schiit gear, just out of familiarity & known-quality & synergy w/ stacking it together)?
Since Emotiva, has 2 Filtered Outlets; #1 is occupied w/ Vanatoo T1 Stereo; #2 is designated for whichever Audio-chain I choose.
So here is the dilemma... (3/5)...
If I purchase that Emotiva CMX2 brick ($120); I'd have to choose a full Schiit stack...
Since it'd require me to utilize the: Cthulu 4-way Power Brick ($24)...
And, in turn, w/ something like this: Eitr ($180), Mimby ($250), Magni3 ($100) & into my HP's.
So a total of: $674 (+$50 for Shipping). So right around $75 left for BJC Interconnects/SPDIF Cables.
Maybe another brand's AIO-Stack for under $800?
Oh, btw, Ravi: I forgot to add: Bedroom is ~16ftx22ft.
And that Corning (Optical) USB cable, is just long enough to reach, my [Android OS/ HTPC] from the other (Man-Cave) Room, where the NAS HDD-box, is actually located at, so thank goodness for having 2x USB Outs on that Synology NAS... Since I don't like using/doing any IPoE, even if it's pure Hardwired Ethernet.
Let's all agree to never ever update when something ships or arrives or post tracking details. Unless of course, it's on the loaner thread.
My brother-in-law sold two used cloth diapers on ebay for $80.
Waiting on a Lego Batman minifigure to arrive. Son really wanted Glam Metal Batman but didn't get it in his blind bags. Shipment notification came tonight.
@imackler damn hipster babies always gotta go retro
This sartory bow makes me weep..... just incredible
For multiple reasons; you cry at the beautiful sound produced and at the thought of the loan you’ll have to take out to own it!
It has such an even response and balance that allows you to do wtvr you want. Its tonality is little on the brighter side which is good for a soloist.
I'm thinking of limiting my internet & TV usage (besides work email) to one day a week. Have any of you done something similar? Results?
I watch football on Sundays. My bedroom TV turns on at 6:00am to wake me up. That's about all the TV I consume.
May I suggest that you start by doing the reverse: set aside one 24-hour period a week in which you disconnect from the outside world, and spend time with family and friends? Also, consider no longer following any news; it works well for me. Best luck!
Best way to do that would be replacing that idle time with something more interesting(?) hobbies/projects/sport. Otherwise these more extreme disciplinary goals fail, most of the time, because noone is slaping youat the back of your head for doing the 'wrong thing.'
