I said it a year and a half ago during dinner after the Brooks Berden meet: this would become mainly a speaker forum in the next few years. It's truly inevitable as the headphone market has stagnated. These new kilobuck totl headphones are not true upgrades of products that have been out for over 5 years, yet the prices keep on going up. Because our average age group is slowly moving out of apartments and buying houses, we will have the room for speakers. Also great people like @shaizada have introduced us to great speakers, the next frontier is obvious. A few core members have already migrated and it's my turn to say my farewell to headphones.

After attending THE Show earlier this year, I had picked out 2 speakers that I would want someday: the Sanders Model 10 and Acoustic Zen Crescendo. These 2 speakers were easily the best sounding in the whole building for me, but the price can't pay at the moment nor have the room for. I was starting to think of good compromises (temporary speakers) to buy after I remodel my house. Thanks to @Armaegis , I found a great deal on a pair of Innersound Eros mk2 speakers. These are the speakers designed by Roger Sanders (same designer of the Model 10) which also have an upgrade kit to Model 10 specs!

Payment is pending on the wire transfer and I'm waiting on freight to pick up. When they get here, they will get shoehorned into a small living room for the time being. This has been an exciting year.

The seller did a great job packing them in the original boxes. Got delivered to my loading dock yesterday!

With the help from a friend, I got them all set up in my kitchen/dining area:

Not an ideal spot at all with the hard surfaces all over plus being a heavy traffic area in the house. There's a f**k ton of tweaking to do on these with the active crossover. I had a hard time getting the dynamics I wanted and the sub bass. I got frustrated and threw my Bent Audio NOH TVC into the chain and BAM! SRV's guitar finally rips!

Even with the non-ideal surfaces I have them placed, these are already sounding fantastic. Yeah, my Krell isn't even part of the chain yet. Lots of options here. This is miles better than headphones.

Yeah, seems like the speaker market still has good people in it (and hopefully I'll join them after I persue getting a degree in mechanical engineering with and acoustics concentration at Hartford), not making crazy high priced totl things (though there are still plenty of thoes). Seems like that's what's mostly happened to the headphone market.

The speaker market is just more mature than the headphone market. It seems like it's over the hump; they figured out how much they could possibly charge for speakers and started competing on value.

Headphones are finding the price cap still, then we'll start seeing more companies trying to outdo the value of others (like Massdrop).

I keep dipping my toe in speakers then bailing. Largely, it's because almost all of my listening at home is late at night and my kid sleeps in the next room.

No doubt about it. It also gets a buddy as the speakers need to be bi-amped.

The pic of the packaging just crushed any jealousy I might have. No way I can get anything like that shipped over the pond.

Grats Ohhgourami that looks like end-game right there.

Decided to carry the Krell Evolution and see what kind of justice it can do these speakers.

Yes, it's that big silver block that bigger than both the Yggdrasil and bass amp combined. I had to have it at 90 degree angle so it would fit on the shelf.

Overall, better layering, separation, "pop", and inner details. I am pleased.

I recently added an interconnect using Vampire Xhadow XLRs and Gotham GAC-4/1 cable. First time I ever heard a difference with interconnects. Very pleased. Possibly down to the solid copper conductors unlike almost all the other connectors that use brass.

Next step is modding the active crossover as this is definitely the weakest link in the system right now.

Instead of modding the Behringer DCX2496, I bought a DBX Venu360 which has room correction. Just configured it and it takes the speakers to another level. Basically took the flaws of the room out of the equation. No more muddy bass boom. The mids sound so damn clean.

Besides possibly upgrading to some 600wpc monoblocks, I'm done. Waiting for the day I move them into other house where I got more room.
