Thinking if I should upgrade my Wave 64 (since the top version is purported to be ready earlier), or just get a current DAP like the ZX2 or the WM1A and sell off the Wave when it comes. Don't like keeping duplicate stuff around.

I would say that depends how much you like the sound of the Go series. Though I'm sure Larry has made some optimizations, I think the Wave will share many aspects of the same design and sonic signature. I personally like the sonys along with receiving my items a few days after purchase. If you are an andromeda user, I would suggest the sony.

Thanks for all the good reviews and sound impressions all; the GOv2+ infinity is certainly as good an addition as stated here. I don't know enough to accurately describe sound, but there is more detail and I think I understand what "soundstage" means now, comparing the GOv2+ to unamped from iOS devices.

Guys what should I know about the GO v2+

I've got one inbound to me that is 8 months old, can I assume it's running firmware 1.5 or could it be v2.0 I understand that it has a low 100 mW gain and a high 1,000 mW gain, as far as I know the V2.1 firmware is not installed on this unit. I would rather have Volume Control Mounted on the device as opposed to using it with my Cell, but I've used Neutron with my Behring UCA 202 without much issue in the past, and for that unit my cell did the changes.

Still My intent is to have the GO v2+ as floating stand in for my DAP and an upgrade for my behringer, I'd like to use it with both my LG v20 and my Windows 8 Laptop, and I would prefer to have volume on the hardware, as opposed to through the OS on either device

Then would flashing to v2.1 give me hard ware volume control, and keeping with older software keep it digital.

yes, flashing to v2.1 puts volume control on the two buttons of the GOV2+ itself.

the only downside to beware, the power-on default volume is likely too loud for IEMs.
I always power on the GOV2+, then press and hold the volume down button for 10-15 seconds and then insert IEMs into jack and get ready for (great) musical playback.

Just a word of warning - it's a one-way upgrade. All attempts I am aware of to revert back to 1.5 have failed.

Given you have a PC-based use case, if that will be the bulk of your listening time I would suggest you try it as-is first. I use hot-key mapping and a Griffon PowerMate for desktop volume control on 1.5, which would not be possible with 2.1. If your phone is your primary use-case then maybe 2.1 will suit better.

Thank you for the advice! Honestly I'm just going to upgrade right to 2.1
I don't have any need or desire to use an app or my mobile or Laptop OS to adjust the volume, I'd rather have a hard button

and thankfully this trade was timed perfectly. My iBasso PB2 has been declared dead by the manufacturer! But thankfully, I've already got a balanced cable being built for my portables in anticipation of this unit, so one balanced portable solution goes out, and another comes in :3

You know honestly, I might just keep the 1.5 Firmware, as having to adjust the gain by increasing the Volume a BUNCH is a terrible idea.... really inconvenient. Although frankly, I don't see myself using this with harder to driver headphones... I would like to have the option. Plus if works really amazing with the Phone

Is there a reason balanced would seem louder? It seemed louder, for the few minutes it worked until the balanced input became lose and now no longer works; somewhat shoddy construction... here is hoping they respond to my help ticket.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me. The balanced input must have gotten loose and I had to wiggle it around to get it to work. I sent it in and they said "Your unit is being play at the moment. We'll let it play for couple nights if there is no connection dropping issue we can send your unit back by this week or next week."

I'm not confident that it'll come back to me with anything fixed, but we'll see!

Oh that's fun... here's to hoping my balanced connector won't drop out on me -.- I got my GO v2+ in a trade and I'm still awaiting the original purchase from the guy well who purchased it. I doubt the warranty is any kind of transferable but he was using it balanced himself so here's to hoping he never had an issue

I've been listening to my GO v2+ more critically today... and I almost forgot I was listening to IT for a second! Sound is really good, a clear step up from the LG V20 internals [kinda thin and meh imaging plus it doesn't have as much power]

My only gripe is the volume like in any amp jumps... it's in stages more than anything honestly. I'm guessing I'll just swap into 2.1 honestly as... when I run SE with my ES 10 it's in High Gain... low doesn't do me any good. I NEVER listen to iems [don't own any] so I guess I just need to adjust to mashing the volume alll the way up when ever I start it up... I'm used to doing that with my NFB 10ES2 honestly and it doesn't bother me. Using Neutron wasn't as handy dandy as I thought...

still sound quality is impressive just hope the build is equally as impressive...

Holy freaking moly!!! I had Firmware 1.00

well I upgraded to 2.1 I figured I'll just bit the bullet since my choice is either 1.0 or 2.1 I just settled for 2.1 as the Volume control with Neutron for the Geek Out v2+ is terrible, impressions to follow

welp it works now -.- just reset my device...

not even gonna worry about it. On the plus side I can use low gain now! and not just high gain

time to VOLUME match, and see how it compares to everything else I own

Customer service was quick to respond. The cost for repair will be $60 since I'm not the original owner. They said turn around of 7-14 days so here's hoping!

Hi, question regarding another LH product- figured out there may be more connaisseurs of the brand here than on the general advice thread.

I have a LH infinity desktop dac/amp that runs with Equator D5 speakers. I have been thinking for a while about adding a sub but did not really understand how to hook it up.

I saw some subwoofers have RCA input. Anybody tried hooking up a subwoofer to the RCA while running speakers off the balanced output? Would both RCA and balanced work in the same time?

Alternatively I guess I could get a balanced subwoofer and use it as pass through but this would entail more cables and would have to rely on the sub circuitry to get the more or less altered signal to the speakers.

I will try not to derail much but Geek Wave has gone six weeks without an update. Larry does not get this communication thing at all. I sincerely hope that progress is being made but no proof is ever offered. He announces timelines and they end up quintupled. At this point I am thinking maybe I get my Wave next July. @zerodeefex sorry to spam you but do you have any insight, or maybe remind Larry that the people are restless? IGG comments are not a good scene.

No freaking clue. If I knew I'd tell you. Larry has been in Asia for weeks. I have two waves I'm waiting for (maxed and basic).

Yeah, it's pretty bad. The comments have evolved to veiled personal threats against Larry now, simply because he won't respond or update or let anyone know where or what their money is being used on. Seems like a great way to derail and crash a company right into the ground on Larry's part.

And there's still complaints on Head-Fi about Customer Service tickets not being reviewed, closed down, no refunds given, etc.
