TBH, I'm trying to convince him to not sell these and buy @shotgunshane 's Freya instead (he wants to sell them to finance a preamp he wants).

Thats @Jozurr he's here and a good guy. I think he secretly doesn't want to break it up, if he sold one he would undoubtedly buy the other again. Getting the whole package out the door is like ripping a band-aid off.

There's a Micro DDX-1000 with a bunch of carts and tonearms on eBay right now. If it's all working, it looks like a real steal. It also looks like the guy wouldn't have the first clue how to pack it, so it might be best for someone in SoCal to check it out/buy in person.

 

Holy Shit. Drool. As far as a "real steal", however, the 'opening bid' is apparently the seller's minimum, and with 4+ days left this has the potential to go way, way up. You're right about the real possibility of the whole package being taken to a local UPS and being thrown into a big box with some foam peanuts, but w/communication w/seller, who knows? Nice find!

 

I would not suggest that one for a vinyl noob, only someone who knows their way around a turntable...

I was considering the DAC. Is it really that good of a deal considering it would cost $200 (with shipping) to upgrade it to gen5?

Yep on the warranty. So the question becomes is 3 years of "extra" warranty and getting s spotless new product worth $150? Probably no (at least to me).

The larger question to me: is the Gungnir Multibit three times better than the Bifrost Multibit I have now, considering a used gen 2 Bifrost Multibit is worth, what about $300?

 

A Gen2 Gungnir Multibit was for sale here for $100 more so relatively that seems like a good deal to me or the one for sale here was a terrible price (pick your poison).

And @AllanMarcus having had all the schitt dacs, I think Gungnir Multibit is the best bang for your buck.

 

I'm not sure how the prices are in CA on these, but there's a VPI Classic 30th Anniversary table for 2600CAD.

That's assuming you're using the USB. If you're planning on using coax, toslink, or BNC (or you have an Eitr), then it's probably still a good deal.
