Have you tried the Eikon perforated pads on it yet? I think it may look more like the atticus, with less of a drop.

No, these measurements were taken at the meet and I didn't get time to measure the other pads. I'm going to ask Zach for a loaner sample and I'll be sure to post full measurements then.

Yeah those measurements look dope. Like ideal for a lot of people. Seems promising

When I'm listening to it, they actually remind me a lot of a HD800 for some reason. It doesn't have the soundstage, the speed is a bit different (I think faster,) and it is definitely thicker....but something about it reminds me a lot of that headphone.

I'm not sure if you the Kenzie anymore, but it sounds pretty damn good on it. I actually prefer the 32 ohm ouptut on the Auteur and the 600 ohm on the HD580 (which is kind of strange.)

It seems a bit more amp sensitive than I thought though. It revealed a bit of steel I didn't think was in the Magni 3 that the Amethyst headphone output and the Kenzie don't have.

@PacoTaco, @cskippy, They did have the perforated pads on them during the measurements.

They sounded like an improved Eikon to me - very good honestly, but I'm still not sold on them at their asking price.

I think Skippy's measurements have the Auteur perforated pads on them (as that FR is what I hear with it,) but the Eikon perforated pads make stuff darker and the bass a bit more punch.

Well you would be correct that there is a similarity. The treble isn't as bright as I find leather pads absorb the high frequencies more than velour plus the treble is lower in amplitude above 10kHz. I found bass to be infinitely better in quantity on the Auteur again due to the leather pads and the longer decay of the driver.

Makes sense. I think the HD800 is a bit clearer due to the treble, which I oddly prefer over the Auteur a smidge. It may scale better as well, if the impedance measurements of the Eikon are anything to go by. I can see a lot of people who didn't like the tone of the HD800 loving the Auteur.

Sorry - My misunderstanding. You are correct - they had the stock Auteur pads. I just saw "perforated" and jumped the gun.

Funny thing, fr graphs. As similar as they may seem, I still don't care for the HD800, but I did like the Auteur (w/ Eikon pads) very much.

Yeah just so nobody is confused, those are definitely the Auteur pads as that's somewhat similar to how Auteur with Auteur pads measures on my rig too compared to hd800. Give me a week here and I'm getting Grizzly, Skippy and Hands sets to play around with. Should be fun! (Marv I'll ask hands to send you his set when he's done with it)

I'm still not sure if I'm going to ship with Auteur pads on them or Eikon perf pads.

PS - Teak actually sands really easily, just have to be careful like Elnrik said not to chip it when machining or if the random orbital sander goes nuts.

Anyways I'll let you guys get back to it sorry to intrude!

@zach915m: Sounds good. I've got too much stuff other going on so the timing is good. Looked at the Auteur FR and almost creamed in my pants, not that Eikon or Atticus were bad, but the more "reference" level bass... you know.

To the others, @PacoTaco, @cskippy, others: thanks for picking up on things, getting the gear, providing measurements, giving impressions, etc. I think at times I've pressure to get a piece of gear in quickly and do a thorough analysis of it. I'm glad I am able to live vicariously the Auteur through you guys. It was always the point of SBAF to get others in on the act. I know some people can envy the position I am in with all the new toys and stuff; but really, at this point, it's WORK! For example, I just provided private feedback on some gear to a vendor ten minutes ago. I have so little time to enjoy music for myself.

Attention all: The bar has just been raised on "intrusions" at SBAF.

Now back to my regularly scheduled Eikon programming...

Edit: @Hands - those don't go to @Marvey until the CO crew gets a micro-meet with them! Promise me! Hearing these on a BW2 is a moral imperative for me. I'll bring Eikons for comparisons. Danka.

Sure, but getting everyone available for a meet is easier said than done. ;)

I'm curious about Tyll's impressions too. I think he just "liked" the Atticus and Eikon. (Which created quite a stir among early owners defensive of their purchases)

Well if what you test sounds good you can enjoy the music. I'm guessing you prob like speakers more though.

Do we have a solid idea of when the first batch might be shipping? Planning on ordering a pair of Teak right when pre-sale opens up Nov 10th.

Zach mentioned that pre-orders will be shipped in January next year.
