Thanks! The race I had on Sunday was 13 laps of nose to tail. It was great fun but wore me out!

I'm picking up a Silver CX5 on Thursday (not my pic) and having the full front half wrapped in XPEL. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of trying to get Tidal from my phone to the Mazda Infotainment System, beyond aux (?). Any Tips@zerodeefex ?

I like cars, and I live in the middle of Orange County. Everyone has a BMW or Mercedes. Everyone who doesn't has something far more exotic. Except a few of us holdouts.

I still drive a 2002 Acura TL that I've had for more than 15 years.

My wife is happy that my car interest primarily involves watching car shows and playing car games. A lot of the cars I like simply are not built for a fat 6'4" dude (or a skinny one, for that matter).

Every now and then, I nearly get bitten by the car bug. A couple months ago by buddy at work drove me around in his Civic Type R. That thing is... not slow.

The most enjoyable car experience I can recall was driving from Evergreen to Steamboat in my uncle's 1982 Lamborghini Countach 5000S.

I should leave this thread before I spend amplifier money on vehicle parts.

Hack Android auto or just use bluetooth. Not a ton of options currently. I am giving them 6 more months before I gut the infotainment system and go full custom.

I'm unsure of what your sub is like, but mine was super fat and bloated stock. I ended up removing the spare wheel and the sub from the enclosure, applying some CLD and mass loader strategically and stuffing the sub box with some polyfill. It cleaned up the low end quite a bit.

Wife is getting antsy with the minivan. I think we have a max two years before she forces me to sell it and get something small like an outback (which she surprisingly liked quite a bit). If things go well at the startup, I'll take the CX-9 and buy her an X5M or whatever equivalent in the category deals best in the snow. Don't want to buy a car like that unless we can pay cash ON TOP of having both kids' college funds fully funded.

That being said, I really don't want to give up the hauling capacity of the Odyssey. It's awesome to hit up home depot, fold down the seats and come home with 4x8 sheets of MDF with no problem. I used to wonder why people bought minivans but, holy shit, forget the kids, they're super versatile and useful.

There are some videos on Youtube where people are hacking AA/ACP onto their units and in the comments I'm seeing some people saying that they've bricked their head units trying the hack. I checked on Crutchfield to see if they had anything compatible with the '17 CX-5 as a replacement unit and the search on their site came up empty.

I anticipate just finding a really good mount for the phone (Kuda Mount + Samsung S8+) and basically using the phone screen as Nav and Tidal fed to the car via aux (or USB?) when I'm not just listening to local radio.

I'm also unsure of what my sub is like. I got the package with the Sunroof (again, LA) and that includes the 10 speaker Bose, so we'll see. It'll be the best car audio I've ever had, even if it's just mediocre by decent car standards. Hopefully it's better than mediocre though.

I like the Subarus and would have looked harder at the Crosstrek if, being in LA, they made a FWD and with an engine at more than 150'ish HP. I think there is a Forrester though with a turbo that puts out 250HP.

My buddy used to have an X5 about 7 years ago. They have an Odyssey now on account of their 3 kids and his wife was raving about it.

Funny sight today. Woman loading her 911 Porsche Carerra "trunk" with Whole Food groceries, holding the trunk open with one hand and carefully grabbing bag after bag. Can't Porsche afford to put hydrolic lifts on the trunk lid, isn't his car north of $70k.

Oh, wait don't tell me they have a prop bar (which she did not choose to use) to save weight, haha.

Just turned 300k on my 2005 325i e46 sedan. Bought used in 2008 with 34k. Still running strong. Replaced the brake pads with ceramic around 100k and all the shops keep telling me they are still fine. This has been an amazing car that has certainly spoiled me with its reliability. Here’s to reaching half a mil!

FWIW, I recently got a convertible with all white leather interior. Despite this massively stupid move, so far it's working out!

I'm a big fan of white leather, especially with a blue car. What colour's your exterior?

Forgot to update this. Back in December I finally bit on a 2015 Chevy Volt Premium on Carvana. I used the Black Friday special to get $1000 off making it about $15000.

It was delivered without the power cable, but the delivery guy had a new one ordered the day he dropped the car off. I got it a few days later and everything has been great since then. It was delivered with a full tank of gas and I went for a decent shake-down cruise. With that drive and a few days of normal driving, I'd used about 1/3 of the 9 gal tank. Since I got the power cable I've only run out of charge once, when Christmas shopping and driving all over town. Even then I only used .3 gal. Since Christmas I have not used any gas except the 1-2 month maintenance cycle (10 mins running time).

With how little I drive, even using the Level 1 charging cord straight from a normal outlet is plenty, and I usually only charge once or twice a week. My electric bill has not changed noticeably, and it's so much more convenient to plug in than get gas. The drive is surreal too, it being so quiet and vibration free. After I bought it, I took it to a dealership to have a full inspection done and there were a few minor things the Carvana warranty covered, but while they were being done, they loaned me a Malibu, and even after only having the Volt for a couple weeks at that point the shock of feeling an engine was surprising. How quickly we adapt. The maintenance cycle has only happened twice since I've owned it, but it's also a strange drive when it turns on.

The seat isn't as comfortable as my Pontiac, but it's good enough. The audio is a very different orientation than my Pontiac, but the quality is better. At this point I'm mostly used to it, but I know it's not all that 'Premium', IMO. It's been great having bluetooth built in, though, so I can listen to audiobooks while driving. Also totally in love with the keyless entry/push button start. The only reason I ever touch my keys now is to open the door to my business. Handle button for the car door and power button to start the car.

So, a 6 year search ended with a 3 year old car. Funny how that works.

Can't seem to get the image to post properly. There we go.. guess forum doesn't like Gyazo.

My 2006 Toyota Rav4 got totaled in an accident. 171000 miles, but still ran strong. Running no more though.
Guy pulled right in front of me in the exit lane. I had no choice but to hit him. At least everyone was ok, and insurance determined it was the other guys fault. My car is gone for good though. Just took all my personal stuff and my aftermarket radio out of it.

Time for a new car, and I got one (not yet, my parents are driving it to me this Sunday (ok, so its not my car, and neither was the old one, but I am the one who uses it)).
2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback, only 8000 miles on it. Color is Deep Chery Pearl, a cool color that changes in the light a bit. I like the looks of this new one better, have not driven it yet though.

Cell phone pics of new car, an '18 Audi A5. Perfect comfortable cruiser, quiet and with a B&O system that actually resembles how music sounds like (albeit a tad bright & with the requisite mid-bass bloaty punch masking the lack of sub bass, but I'm ok with that, being a fan of the newer lambdas and all). Quick too, with a DCT and the old-school mechanical quattro. Understeers a bit and the steering isn't all that sharp, but again, cruiser.

Can't really do anything to it, except for maybe some software tweaks.
