    Received from Daytripper.

Will ship out on Tuesday to @mscott58 . Please pm your shipping!

Initial impressions are that I prefer this to what i remember of the UE18+... Though it's possible that's because the UE18+ I was using a borrowed Mojo and now I have Hugo 2 back. But I'm liking what I'm hearing so far.

I absolutely prefer these to the UE18+. UE 18+ was way too bassy for me, not to mention the thing is gigantic! PP8 checks all the boxes for me sound wise. Just a little too big. Maybe the PP8s would be the ticket. Still, I can’t see shelling out close to $1500 for them. I prefer these to the Andromeda, but they aren’t worth $500 more. The andromeda fit was a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise it’s great. So, PP8s at Andromeda price would be a done deal. In my dreams.

Both of them pale in comparison to the Dita Dreams bass wise. Still have a lot of comparisons to do, but they both sound like they focus on the higher frequency parts of say a double bass, while the Dreams have a much lower rumble that sounds much more natural. Though the Dreams probably have too much of it for your tastes.

Kinda hard for BAs to compete with good DD bass. Is this with the bass boost switch turned on?

Yeah it's still not close. I'm not really blaming them. It's just making me really want to try the Tia Trio or Fourte with a dynamic driver for the low end. I wanna see if that sub bass can rumble anything like the Dreams.

Essentially this loaner just made me want neither my own or the prophiles but a combination of both... sigh...

Hm... the Tias don’t come close? They both have dyamics for bass... Tempted to go for a Trio tbh... What’s your favorite iem?

Anyway so I’ve had lots of time now.

Hugo 2 was used for listening on both of these with an iPhone using Tidal (or desktop using Roon). It’s fair to hate on the price, but Hugo 2 is definitely one of the best iem dac/amps I’ve heard. I’d say the WM1Z is better and maybe the WM1A, but not much else I’ve heard.

The Dreams sound really metallic and unnatural now. Finally hear it haha. The Prophiles sound so natural and smooth in comparison with superior detail everywhere except the low end. It’s also quite nice being able to hear mids again :p. But in all seriousness while these kind of lack the bass to sound quite as good with hip hop or rock, the clarity on classical and other well mastered recordings that aren’t as bass heavy is fantastic.

I prefer them with both switches off it seems. The bass switch in particular while quite a boost to the amount of bass sounds significantly muddier than the Dreams. Though I can see why people would like them.

So the Prophiles convinced me on the BAs being good haha. I definitely prefer them to the UE18+, the mids to me sounded much better than the Dreams with the Prophile while I was more torn on the UE18+.

In conclusion, the loaner tour is over because I’ll keep these. :p just kidding the hunt moves on. If anyone knows a way to get a loaner Fourte or Trio let me know, as they both sound like they’d have the bass I’m looking for a bit more.

Thanks for letting me in on this loaner! While my ears have been opened, my wallet may not be happy. These things are great!

Have had the PP8's for the last week, using my 1Z as the source, and about to send them on to @Ryu (please PM me your address info for shipping). My experience with them matches very closely to @cskippy in many ways. I found the mids and mid bass to be very clear and impactful, but they could indeed seem a bit congested in other frequency zones. Male vocals worked well, but I wasn't as happy with female vocals, and the upper end really just didn't do it for me. On the other hand, those mids were very, very good. I did like how lightweight the PP8's were - they don't weigh much but seem to be well made and solid (as strange as that might seem). Also I didn't have any issues with fit at all. So a well made IEM, but not for me - I'll stick with my Andro's any day of the week. Thanks for the experience

Try to hear the Tia at canjam NYC or somewhere. They are not without their issues. For that amount of money you don't want to be surprised.

I heard them at RMAF, but my impressions were kinda shit. I’m not sure how to describe this correctly but my Dita Dreams have a very direct presentation of the music which seems to be typical of dynamic drivers. BA iems tend to sound somewhat recessed in comparison and it took my ears some time to get used to the different sound. So everything at RMAF including the Fourte sounded kinda far away which greatly bothered me at the time. So my impressions of everything were botched. I greatly enjoy the Andros I have now while I didnt really like them at the show.

I almost definitely can’t make canjam nyc, if I get time I’ll 100% go.

If there were specific issues you had in mind could you pm me them?

Sure, the treble. Just check my impressions in the Tia thread. Vansen heard them similarly.

The Tia treble was off in its own world. I need to reevaluate these with a better source this year.
