While throwing my system together I wound up using my Lynx Hilo as both a DAC and a Preamp. I have a rega P3 turntable and a Microrendu as a roon endpoint. My plan was to use my original Hafler DH101 as the preamp but I cant find it. I have 2 Hafler DH220's bridged to mono as the power. I temporarly put in an old Lexicon DC2 as a preamp running it in 2.1 mode. I felt it veiled the sound when compared to using the Lynx alone. While using a conventional analog preamp would be easier then the Lynx its startling how good it sounds by itself. [IMG]

    Great idea. :punk:

I eventually sold off my deHavilland preamp after many years when I heard how great my Prism Sound dac sounded without a conventional preamp. Old habits die hard but when you hear how open everything is; it is a wonder I had not done it sooner. Guess I had to get the right piece with a good volume control.

BTW I think I have that same Panasonic phone, haha.

If I find my hafler I will try it out. I am thinking of getting the haflers redone by musicaldesign but their prices go up to 3200/amp. I was thinking of their 1400 mod for each eventually.

Whats crazy about the Lynx is I am using 3 channels out driving them simultaneously. Each channel has a separate dac and amp. The Lynx has 8 channels that can be used and addressed somewhat independently.
