I have a very slightly used Sonore ultraRendu with iFi iPower 9v power supply for sale. I want to buy a sonicTransporter i5 with the proceeds of the sale so all I am asking is $725 net to me.

The ultraRendu/iPower sells for $925. I have used the ultraRendu for maybe 100 hours and it is in 10/10 condition. The iPower was used for maybe 10 of those hours.

Sorry if this is a dumb dumb question, but what does this device do exactly?

As far as I can tell, it seems like a Ethernet-to-USB converter. I have a computer which has both Ethernet and USB output, and I'm currently using its USB output to my Eitr/Gen 5 Gungnir Multibit via a USB cable. What sonic difference does using an Ethernet cable and this device (between my computer and USB DAC) bring to the table? Does it serve as a USB decrapifier or sorts, like the Wyrd/Regen/Intona? Isolate dirty computer USB power and provide clean power of its own, while reducing jitter?

How are you planning to feed your DAC?

    From the SonicTransporter directly?

Because if so, you may want to wait (if you can) to see if there's a SQ difference. I know that I can't get my PC output via USB to get even near the SQ of my UltraRendu (or even my MicroRendu) even fed through GEN 5 USB or Eitr.

    rlow,

I have a PS Audio DirectStream DAC with a Bridge II card installed. The Bridge II card has an Ethernet port and acts as a Roon endpoint. So USB is not even in the picture.
