Anyone else could hear this new headphones?
It would be nice to get some 3rd party measurements of it, there's very few info at the moment.

No measurements, but we've heard them in Poland during November's AVS show and they are VERY impressive.

    Nice!
What do you think about resolution and tonal balance? Were they better/worse than, let's say, an LCD-4?

Very lively, detailed and fast sound with great bass. Way less romantic than HEKv1 and more 'fun' sounding than Susvaras.

6moons review is complete, and, apart from the fancy meaningless flowery senteces, our dear Srajan thinks that the headphone is closed back (while the headphone, of course, is open back). Just priceless o_O

EDIT: He edited the review and corrected that issue.

Just found this video while reading some japanese sites, it shows how Final D8000 is made

Now, compare the manufacturing process with Audeze :D

    Yup, now everything makes sense.

Btw I changed the thread's title from "FAD new planar headphones" to "Final D8000 new planar headphones", I think it's more accurate because at the moment there's only one model and is called D8000.

The company is now known just as 'final', not 'Final Audio Design', hence your change makes sense.

You inspired me to pull out the 1601SC. Where daft and high art meet? With the right music, I think that they are wonderful.

I never get to hear the full size Final headphones. I would like to...

Yep.. tube of glue and a soldering iron- completely unrelated to how much unit-to-unit variance they suffer. Incidentally, it looks like JA probably shouldn't be waving sharp objects about- it wasn't terribly controlled..

I would never imagine the manufacturing to be like this and suddenly everything that i knew, heard or read about Audeze made sense. Incredible (not in a good sense though).

Seeing how those Audeze IEMs were made, I can't help but feel a tad disappointed. I've never owned a pair for myself, but this goes quite a way towards explaining the famed Audeze Lottery.

This is the sort of thing I'd have expected from Grado. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, only that the Brooklyn guys sell themselves on romantics and hand-crafted appeal; Audeze, on the other hand, doesn't.

Talking about Final, I've been doing a lot of "detective work" about them this week...
It seems that the "unique" sound and the obsession with puttin' BA drivers on everything was only a vision of their founder (who, sadly, passed away 3 years ago) and no one's else.

As @iFi audio pointed, they even changed their name, so we can expect a departure from that.

I've been reading a lot about this model and pretty much everyone says the same: neutral, even (which is far, far from their past "house sound"). Of course, those impressions aren't trustworthy at all, I would really like if some of our trusty SBAFers could get a pair and take measurements and comment on the sound of these headphones.
Final plans to offer a full line with this planar tech, prices starting from 300€ to 5000€ (yes, they'll release a flagship above the D8000) like their Sonorous range. First of all, I'll repurcharse the HD650, KISS mod it and will try to get an SS Dynalo MK2 Mini first at hand to have something to compare, once the cheaper models come in I'll buy one and offer comparisons. As much as I would like to buy one, D8000 is way out of my price range at the moment.

This are based in the Yamaha HP-1 and they had the help of Yamaha and NH Labs (Heitaro Nakajima, ex-Sony and one of the pioneers of CD...not bad, isn't it?;)). The earcups are all cast magnesium and coated with the same paint as Nikon cameras, which "helps with vibrations" according to them.
The driver has no damping like the other planars, it uses an air film instead of damping sheets and all that crap that Audeze/Hifiman/etc use...so, very, very interesting development.
The assembly process and build quality is lightyears above Audeze (not going to mention Hifiman :D) if we see the videos above. My conclusion after watching the Audeze's video is that unit to unit variation comes from incompetence more than the planar technology itself :)

Much of my curiosity comes from me owning the Yamaha HP-1 for 3 months, I still remember "dat mids™" (even when I owned the HD650), this line could be something very special if it is an all around improvement.

No idea, they mentioned it in Munich 2017, so my guess is probably this year

Guys, you can’t really compare those videos. Final showed beauty shots of individual components, as marketing material. Audeze let someone else do a quick and dirty video at their office showing the components being put together. It’s an exception when IEMs do not use glue. Still a bit of a shame given the price of the i4, but it’s the same with Westone and Shure’s high priced models, and many Sennheiser IEMs too.

It’s often not much fun seeing how the sausage gets made. Audeze were either brave or foolish to let that out, especially with all the fumbling around.

That Audeze video is not bad at all. I'd say it's authentic. Every manufacturer has some messy places.
In the end, it's about how the product performs and if it's reliable in the long run. All good if someone asks me.
