@baldr Awhile ago you mentioned that you were listening to some upgraded Bifrost Multibit tech. Is that still in the works?

    Special edition R2R Fulla!

Actually maybe this is a chance to make a fully USB powered version of the Modi MB.

I'd be into it. Bare bones. No USB input. K.I.S.S. Limited Edition.

Are we talking harvesting the BRUZ R2R chips *themselves* for a new board/product... or reusing the ya1 boards as is, maybe one board can be slightly modded for L/R instead of +/- phase, allowing a full DAC with just one ya1 board...?

Oh shit! Headphone cards for the DACs. All-in-one chaos!

I like it, with our throw away society and dwindling resources this is a great idea.

Why not build medical instruments with the boards? I bet those DACs are good for that!

I think one of the things that happens in our fast-turnover world is that we tend to forget how good some things from the past are in the rush to get the latest/greatest of everything. Yggdrasil v. 1 was revelatory when it was first released, and the subsequent upgrades don't make it suddenly bad. Even if there is an a2 upgraded version of the Gungnir Multibit in the offing, I won't be buying the upgrade. I already know I won't be able to afford it, sure, but ultimately, my gen5 will sound just as good the day after the upgrade is available as it does as I write this. As long as I never hear the upgrade...

Ohhh you already know what you're gonna do next my man.

But yes, some old stuff can give the latest and greatest a run. And it's heck a lot of fun hunting down, rebuilding, and comparing obsolete stuff. Makes you appreciate the substance over form.

It's sort of a mini gap in their DAC lineup. Been noticing many DACs providing a headphone out as a value added feature. Metrum, Chord, RME, Yulong, Cambridge, etc. Miniaturize that Lyr 3 output stage and slap it in there for something handy that will work with moderately efficient headphones, and we'd have another Pénis d'Or winner.

Damn-uneventful for a while; a long fuckin' while. Boring, just working on less exotic but required digital audio engineering to stay ahead and competitve. Yawn. I had a couple of proto PCBs hangin' around which I hooked together out of convenience earlier today..............................

Words fail. Since I started doing digital audio 35 years ago, there have been one or two digital audio engineering eargasms. Today, I had a full-on expert digital audio blowjob. I am stunned and have just taken a break from several hours of listening.

Just now started a combo pcb.

It is going to take me quite a bit of time to figure out how/where to implement this - stay tuned.

I believe that the art of FUD was perfected by IBM. This is the marketing technique of persuading people not to buy anything from competitors because you are about to disclose and release the thing that beats all the rest hands down.

Schiit is the only company I know of that seems to use FUD against itself! And yet the old stuff keeps on selling anyway.

Heyho, God Schiit moves in mysterious ways! And they work for them :D

As long as it's not a Yggdrasil A2 Analog 3 board released the week after my Analog 2 board install round-trips to Schiit and back, looking forward to this ear-gasm :p
