Almost "Made"

With all the discussion around the HD6XX family, I have a shameful confession to make... I like the 650M mods on my 600. THERE, I SAID IT. Nov 1, 2017

I feel like Katy Perry admitting she kissed a girl. YES, I LIKED IT! YES, THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW! PREFERABLY THROUGH SONG AND DANCE!

I feel for you, Thad. My dad was visibly affected by his inability to enjoy his CD setup as his hearing got worse. Here's wishing that a really good used or clearance offer pops up in your area.

Thanks @MrTurtle. Actually, it is more than the enhanced highs that might annoy some of normal hearing; more than the incredible detail in frequencies I can hear anyway.... It's also the incredible ear-space comfort and the better tropical-climate breathability.

The HD6nn series is not at all bad (wouldn't like anything smaller around my ears) but whatever Senn did to the sound, it would still be HD6nn shape and feel ...else it wouldn't be HD6nn!

        Hey, HD600... I'm not exactly unhappy! :)

Wasn't your budget like way less than the price of a ZX100?

I found a used one for just around 250USD, so I took it as a sign!

Slimming down my work stack - looking for DAP that has great line out to feed Leck. Any recommendations below 250 bucks?

I've been quite satisfied with my M1. Vansen has mentioned that he felt it was too rolled off. It's pretty cheap to buy one secondhand and see what you think.

Yup, was considering M1 but it doesn't seem to have a proper line out mode. M2S has been on the list in its place (thanks @Mshenay for the impressions!) but am hoping for a 2nd or 3rd opinion. May jump on a ZX100 if I get impatient.

Loving the TH-X00! Not loving the smell of the previous owner so much though.

Ugh is correct! And I can't seem to find Ozium in my country, so I'll make do with sneaker balls and charcoal in a box for now. Thanks for the tip!

When I was in London, the strongest and best ahem-organic smell-remover spray came from... the vet.

My wife always wants to use strong perfumes, cut onions, etc, on bad smells. Makes me scream. Now you have two bad smells!

Best thing I have here is actually supposed to repel mosquitoes, which it doesn't, but does seem to neutralise some other smells.

Fostex T60RP, with wood cups in that same 80s shape. Whaaaat? Hopefully they improved the distortion in the mids, but not holding my breath.

Got GO720. More bass body and less stridence/digititus compared to UD120. Does the Leck justice! But 10000mah batt drains in 5h vs 9 prev...

Considering I got it for less than a benjamin though, can't really complain... HD600s do sound superb in this chain. 1st gen GOs can be a proper bargain these days

1st generation GO450 and the HD600 is an amazing pairing you can find for under $300 used if you bide your time and wait for the right deal.

Sound advice right there. This is what I like about the hobby - the old stuff isn't necessarily obsolete just because new stuff's come out, which is great for cheapskates like me, heh. Also, you reminded me that I should really try the GO without the Leck, if only to check out the difference.

Is the Geek Out 720 still competitive as a DAC, esp. for portable use? Currently feeding my Leck with a UD120.

JBL LSR305s in the house. Genuinely good stuff! Now only Mimby left to complete my mid-fi corner of happiness.

HD600, smaller and more convenient. Go speakers if you have a decent listening room/studio.

The bass response of the ER4XR is just what the doc ordered, but the SR sounds more correct in the midrange. How now brown cow?
