My brother uses Fi and is very happy. My family is on Republic which is the same idea. If I traveled internationally, I'd switch to Fi in a heartbeat...

Haven't read this entire thread but the Emotiva CMX-2 got rid of my headaches using the Mjo 2. I didn't think my power was even that bad. Check out the thread on power conditioners.

I could hear hum through the crack because the house I live in is old and has very poor power. Bought a Hum X from Amazon and that solved the problem. Not sure how it impacts the sound, but the crack was very punchy and dynamic. I have a ZDS now and it’s super quiet so I skipped the Hum X and connected directly to the outlet.

        Lucky you! :P
I presume, you still need those two (bringing mid-range up a bit & 6kHz peak damping) usual Mods on your HD800?

*Sigh* I wish I could afford DNA products!

BTW, is the Stratus still being Manufactured / Sold-direct, or as Used/Second-Hand only?

        Edit: Oh! Demo Unit.

        @Northwest
I've only had it a week, but right away I noticed better extension on both ends, especially in the bass. Hits harder and deeper where the Sonett 2 was a bit more soft. This also plays into improved dynamics. I didn't really notice until now, but the Sonett 2 upper midrange is a bit more laid back while the Stratus has a bit more energy here.

HD800S, so no mods. I found the trade off worth it for me, but generally I still recommend the 800 with SDR which I owned prior.

My TV has optical out, my receiver analog in. Would putting a cheap D/A converter in between bypass the internal dac of my receiver?

You know, I'm going to double check that. I know next to nothing about home theater AV equipment, but yeah, it sounds like it wouldn't have a dac built in then.

Was probably going to find a pair of the RCAs Marv recommended. Looks like matched pair are a couple hundred. The cheapest look to be the Sovteks at around $130 a pair. If the Aficionado is really quite the step up above both the ZDS and Stratus, I might as well go for it. If I'm already okay with spending $3k, what's an extra $4-500.

Is the black widow fine if the receiver is turned on? Some receivers ground their inputs when turned off, which is not good if you're trying to use the other gumby SE out. I had same problem, used a sys to break the connection when not using receiver.

Volume was fine except for flyovers and strafing runs, etc. aka all the action scenes were too loud. Earplugs were a lifesaver.

I've asked some friends who still work for Arclight and word around town is that Warner Bros is telling the theaters to adjust the volume for Dunkirk at their discretion. Apparently, the studio got many complaints from theater chains about the volume level of the the copies they received.

I may be wrong, but I would expect the opposite. Notwithstanding the public outcry, traffic has most likely barely dropped from its expected trends. While we've seen some increase in population on SBAF that coincided with the HF revamp, most users are still very likely very happy with the platform and sticking to it. The increase in ads per inch though would likely mean an increase in revenue.

Be careful. But if I recall correctly, the original cables get stuck pretty hard indeed. I had to pull really hard and was also afraid to break something. Not sure what to recommend. In the end I was able to release them.

I ended up gripping one earphone connector with pliers and pulling (hard) straight out. It was scary, but it worked for me. I don't know, maybe I just got lucky. (The other connector didn't need that much force and I pulled it out with my hand.)

First the NES Classic Mini now the SNES version. I just want a Switch with the old games and a few new ones.

Nintendo keeps messing with people who love their old IPs. The Switch is now the best option if you do not have the old consoles...

My Switch gets the most game time from me these days. I honestly have zero hope for a fleshed out virtual console on the Switch though. For some reason Nintendo seems to think nobody wants to play their classic games.
