I think it's the other way around; they are sending out longer cables after shipping the HD6XX with short cables.

Yeah, they're supposedly sending out longer cables to all of the 6XX customers but I don't know think they're 9 meters either. The big complaint about the 6XX cables was that they weren't even as long as they originally stated they were going to be which was already significantly shorter than stock 6XX.

Is there a way to buy a few of the different pads? Or do I need to sign up for the drop a couple of times?

You can add different pads to the same order.

Edit: Moving my question to the advice thread.

Damnit, I wish Dekoni offered more mounting rings. I really want to try the fenestrated leather pads (shit, and the velour ones), but it is going to be hard to make comparisons if I keep having to change out the mounting rings.

If you do, could you make a tiny tweak to the pale one, meanwhile, so that links are more obviously a different colour? It's the main advantage of the dark blue skin.

    Also, more on topic:

A lightly used Fulla 2 - with no import duty for curious Euros. I was tempted myself to grab a second one, just to have "in case".

You can 3D print them: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/63kyxr/fostex_thx00_people_heres_a_3d_printable/
I've also seen them for sale somewhere, but I can't find them again or even remember where I saw them.

Assuming the rings are the same as the Fostex ones, you can order more from Full Compass, but you have to call them. Order part "Fostex 1412552460"
About $11 each ring plus $6.80 for shipping.

Awesome thanks! I actually searched Full Compass earlier but couldn't find the part. Their HQ and main warehouse is local to me so I (almost) never pay shipping from them.

UPDATE: :( Spoke with parts department and Fostex has discontinued that part. So either they are introducing it with a new number like the idiots at beyerdynamic always do, or they are hoping to force people into buying entirely new earpads instead of just the attachment rings.

The part is not discontinued; it just says that in their system. Ask them to look into it more. That is what they told me, and when I contacted Fostex, the part was magically not discontinued.

I keep wanting to try Sonarworks but remember from the demo that the latency is just too high for any real time work. So video playback, music creation, and video games all have way too much audio delay. JRiver EQ works just as well if I need to use it.

New HD650 from Amazon at $315.99 (best I've ever seen was $299, and that was February 2016).

Haven't really been tracking these since I have two pairs already, so don't know how recently they've been down at this level (I know it happens somewhat cyclically).
