Now open to USA - Wolf Ear Makoyi Loaner

I found those KT88 MKIIs to be a bit to mellow for the Makoyi. I put in my KT150 and it opened up the amplifier a lot.

I also found the amp to not bring out the dynamics and details of of high impedance headphones that well. The Makoyi has solid and hard but blunt bass with Planars and can hit hard with low imdedance hps, but my Atticus and Eikon, and HD650 all sounded a bit laid back dynamically. The 650 had good tonality with the Makoyi. I don't think that those looking for lots of details will find the Makoyi up their alley.

@AllanMarcus So did you get a chance to haul the Makoyi down to the meetup this past weekend? any impressions to share?

 

Yep, I took it to the meet. Unfortunately, there were only a few people there, but they liked it. I had it set up with an RCA switch box and a Schiit MJ2 and a Auralic Taurus Mk ii (Bifrost Multibit to the switch box, then out to each amp). There was no doubt the Makoyi was smoother than the other two. It pairs well with the Utopia, but was too smooth (IMHO) with the LCD-4. The Taurus was a good match with the LCD-4.

I need to pack it up much better for shipping, then I will ship it. Anyone else in the US want it before it's sent back to Canada?
