@james444 Having owned the Stagediver SD-2 for quite a while now, would these be an upgrade (@x4the cost)or are we talking diminishing returns allready?

They'd be an upgrade, but not one that reflects 4 times the cost. I'd say, expect roughly 1.5 times the performance. Which is of course entirely subjective... but from my pov, at that price point, you're knee-deep in diminishing returns.

@shotgunshane will you be listening to the 64Audio U18 and compare them to the PP8? Or anyone else? Because I saw you´re on the tour-list and just wanted to ask in advance. Would be great!

Yes I'm on the tour. My plan is it compare with the PP8 and Andromeda.

Oh damn, just received my b-stock from Thomann. Nothing really standing out so far, which bodes well for a reference monitor.

PP8 definitely channels UERM, more so than Andromeda IMHO. It's UERM with slightly more polite treble and (from memory) better extension.

The stock tips suck balls though. Modded spiral dots are way better.

I'm just using them with an iphone ATM, but I would be interested to know how they scale...

My information was that SpinFits are part of the default accessories for a while now. Which cable did you get? Plastics1 or the new softer one with a circular Y-split?

The Spinfits are included. They just seem a bit veiled after trying the spiral dots.

The cable is has a circular split and is really light and flexible. I like it.

Hey jowls, thanks for the report. What's your opinion of them so far? Also, since I'm also getting Thomann B-stocks, are there any imperfections on your unit?

Oh nice. It has been a while since I had my UERM but I don't remember it going as high as PP8.

Initial impressions are good. I get concerned when a new headphone 'wows' me in any particular way (because I usually end up tiring of It) and PP8 is sufficiently understated so far.

Tone is natural (no urge to flip switches), as is staging/imaging. They are pretty resolving straight out of an iphone but they are also one of those IEMs that I REALLY want to hear out of an uber setup. They 'feel' like they will scale.

B-stock is fine. They actually could have just sold it to me as new. Thomann have a pretty generous returns policy so I think a lot of gear gets demoed and returned.

They do, very impressed with how they perform with my QP1R DAP: strong, clear bass (excellent for jazz double bass), fast, well-defined highs (eg. good on cymbals), not tiring over hours of listening in transcontinental flights.

    Hi all;
I'd like to run these through the balanced out of my Sony WM1Z, and am thus looking at an aftermarket cable.
    Does anyone have any recommendations?

    thx

Yeah. @KenBall seems to know everything about connectors and how stuff is supposed to be wired up. I just don't have time to figure stuff like this out anymore, much less solder microscopic components. I went to him for my Sony ZX2 balanced cables.

Managed to try the PP6 very briefly today as well (only enough time with the configuration of both switches turned off).

On very surface level evaluation, I think these are excellent IEMs. A decent alternative to the Andros for those who prefer a more distantly projected stage and overall leaner, colder, more 'reference' presentation. Whilst I still preferred the Andromedas overall, the PP6 had a level of separation, airiness and detail that gave it a run for its money.

Really digged the aesthetics and ergonomics. Protruding switches are fugly. Having an all-black color scheme with recessed switch ports was great from a minimalist standpoint.

Also the fit was pretty darn amazing. The heck? Even for my messed up aural anatomy it fit like a glove.

First time listening to these guys today. Damn... Definitely more neutral than Katana. Very impressive control in the low end. Ergonomics were interesting. Definitely filled up my whole ear but not in an uncomfortable way. Definitely going back for a second listen with my AK as opposed to my phone.

yes, for me, the fit alone already made it my favourite head/ear phone. it's surprising to me how much more relaxed i was not having to fiddle with the fit and just get on with listening to music.
