Need help making a vocal recording setup

@ThePianoMan @Armaegis thank you so much for your advice I finally got the Blue Kiwi and have the E22 already now am focusing on getting the mic preamp which should be the Tone Beast as it seems like the sucessor to WA12 with the DI option


Another Question I have is what stands do you recommend for something like the blue kiwi I ordered The Rode PSA 1 (as I want to be able to take it with me back on vacation etc and this one mounts to the desk but if you know of a better one i'll return this

I personally prefer a telescoping boom stand that can collapse down for transport, but of course the more portable you go the less sturdy it will be. Are you intending to do all your recording at a desk? That would not be my first choice acoustically.

Also... I think the Rode arm requires you to drill or use an existing hole in the desk? It doesn't look like the sort that clamps to the side of a desk.

 

thge rode one comes with the clamp system in the option i ordered but yes please link me the telescoping boom stand I wouldn't mind getting that

 

@kirayamato I tried the Rode NTK many years ago, great sounding mic for female vocals IMHO (there is also the K2 which is similar I think). You'll want to get something like an SM6 with these.

I would not blow your entire budget on one piece of kit, keep some money aside for additional mics, cables, software and whatnot.

Go read some articles from http://www.soundonsound.com about how to use compression, etc and get the best out of the gear you have. This part is free. In the end, these skills will make more difference between a pro vs amateur sounding recording, than the gear.

I think the ones I have are actually shorter and meant for instruments rather than vocal, but it's workable. They get wobbly when extended high, but that's the tradeoff with having something that packs down into under two feet. I've got a set of full size boom stands and regular pedestal stands, but the collapsible ones can actually be packed into a duffle bag.
