That guys is nutz! There is literally almost $250,000 in tooling in this Headphone. Nothing is off the shelf, nothing! I just can’t stand it!

Thank you for literally understanding completely. You and I are now friends lol.

I’m not letting these people who haven’t, seen, touched or heard these spew venom.

Once people hear them, touch them and see them, say whatever the heck you want.

The idiot ratio on Headfi is pretty high. I think the best move is simply not to engage with those fools. You're in charge of product development at a well respected speaker manufacturer, the guy you're arguing with could very well be in charge of his mom's basement. It's beneath you to engage. People with $1000 to spare will do the due diligence and evaluate the hp3 on its merits.

This is actually double what most hifi companies shoot for. There's prevalent 10% BOM targets.

Honestly, it's nice to see a solid entry in the $1000 range.

I did this for a while to keep my sanity. Good to back off once a in while. Heck, I've even banned myself from this forum for two weeks!

    From the Klipsch website:
    1989
At age 85, Paul W. Klipsch sells Klipsch & Associates to second cousin and Indianapolis businessman Fred S. Klipsch and his wife Judy. While manufacturing remains in Hope, Arkansas, business operations move to Indianapolis, Indiana.

The company is re-named Klipsch, Inc.

I'm assuming (yes I know what happens when you assume) This applies to their headphones as well, but obviously that is unclear (and I guess not likely for the IEMs... I'd be mighty impressed if it were). I think @musiqlovr would have to confirm.

These are the most interesting upcoming headphones as far as I'm concerned. Hoping to get my ears on them at some point.

While I don't think it'll be at all necessary (and probably not advisable) to replace the cups on the Klipsch (since they're semi-open):

A dude I found via Head-Fi years ago was making Fostex cups at less than half the price of Lawton and they were amazing (had some for my TH600).

Here's his eBay. Looks like he might still be at it. Loved how the deep teak cups looked on my TH600.

I'm also in the camp that's very excited for these. Not all listening is analytical or suited to the HD800's/Elears. The HD650 has been my go-to bass headphone of late because it's convenient (the rest are at home), but I've been eagerly awaiting a product that has that bottom end slam I enjoy for listening to electronic music. I'll be a day 1 HP3 buyer most likely.

Here is what I can tell you about potential for US produced HP's from Klipsch...

When I joined Klipsch a little over two years ago, I sat with my boss (CEO) and we discussed long term plan for HP category. We both felt that while our IEM were really great, we didn't have a wireless solution and we were late. On top of that all our efforts in On-ear were up to this point plastic. I discussed an idea I had with the Bluetooth Speakers (which later become Heritage Wireless-the ONE, the THREE and the SIXES), and my focus was for us to move away from the rest of the crowd and just do Klipsch...our mood board would be Wood, Metal, Leather and Copper. And the further up in price we went the more elements we would incorporate. The result was our guiding force for the ONE, the THREE and the SIXES became "no visible plastic", nothing the customer touches should be plastic.

I also spent some time on a business plan for HP's and to me, this is a symbiotic relationship in the fact that as we go up market we kill off the low end (never to make that stuff again). The plan is much longer but thats the idea in a nutshell.

The team has a 3 and 5 year strategy and if it works (ala we sell some HP3's and prove we belong here), we will bring US made HP's to Hope Arkansas inside of those 5 years, maybe 3. I really did not want to put that out there, but you guys have been asking...

The idea would be for pure custom, you choose the wood species and the stain you want, you chose all the accessories and we build. I do not think this possible below $2000 retail, of course we would try to make it as affordable as possible, Klipsch always over performs in its price band.

I've enjoyed the Klipsch sound for a long time, I have a pair of KG5.5's that are still going strong. I really hope to get to hear these sometime soon...is Klipsch going to be at the NY Audio Show ( and if so will these be there)?

    @musiqlovr

Great to have you here! Regarding pads there are many, including myself, who prefer non-leather pads. You can look at the Sennheiser HD650 and the Audeze Vegan Pads for examples. I'm sure you know this but there is also a lot that can be done with pads in terms of tuning the headphone. Leather, perforated leather, velour, microsuede all sound a bit different and absorb different amounts of bass and treble. Also the distance to the ear and angle of the pad matters. If you're looking to tune the headphone this is an area which I feel many companies overlook. If you have a good headphone and want to get the last 5% out of it pads is a great area to experiment. I also think offering some sort of textile pad as accessory would be appreciated by many, maybe even as stock if you can order the set like that.

    Also - please learn to multi-quote. ;)
