I agree wholeheartedly - said the same thing earlier in the thread when they started that nonsense. EDIT: Just noticed my post got moved to the "Larry bashes Marv" thread.

However might I suggest we ignore those HF toolbags who dont know a good thing when they see it, and focus on the awesome community here who know their Schiit...don't want to this thread to be only about bashing another HF thread (lots of other threads out there for that! )

 

Some things can be expensive and a good value.

If you want them to also do USB Gen 5, you save on the shipping. You might be getting a warranty extension. Odds are there will not be another (announced) upgrade anytime soon, if this one is any indication. (If there is, it is probably going to be a really BFD.)

If you live where the shipping is very expensive, well there are probably pluses and minuses to where you live in general.

 

The people complaining are idiots, most other firms would just release it as new version and make you buy it over again. Imagine getting a sports car and having the option to send it in for all the upgrades to current model a few yrs down the line, if only all companies are this nice to their customers.

 

Agree with all of this, and... it's a business, it's not a charity, they should make some $ off new products.

What's with the SE "summing" -- why do I need a funky transformer to get a clean output from yggy2? Will I fry it with a BAL-SE cable? SE perf would be more important to me than 600ohm perf.

Would there be any discernible difference running XLR to RCA cables rather than just RCA to RCA? I'm thinking about upgrading both my amp and DAC this year, but all of the amp options currently on my radar are SE only.

& yes, @baldr mentioned 4 is bad in some countries, hence theta gen 1,2,3,5 -- and back in the day, where I learned it 1st, was the reason for no LSL4

Would a step-by-step on how build a DIY transformer box, like the Jensen but with cinemag transformers, be something you would be willing to share with the community at some point? Out of interest and potentially cost savings, I'd like to give it a go but lack the knowledge.
