Don't tell that to anyone on Headcase. They'll think you're delusional and anything but their amp is pure shit that should go in a fire.

Spending my first afternoon with Tidal/Eitr/OG Gungnir Multibit/Af/Ether Flow. I'm not usually a measurements guy but I can safely say that this measures as a two six pack amp. This is where you pick up the Amp and a Six Pack thinking that six will be enough and six beers in you realize how very wrong you were, then walk across the street to the 7/11. Whatever price you're getting for the Af, be prudent and add the price of two six packs. You'll thank me.

Thanks to the wonderfully gracious @Melvillian we had the chance to spend an afternoon listening to this chain and switching out caps via gator clips. I'm coming from Sonett 2 and was just as happy really with Sonett 2 as Af with stock caps. Similar sense of space and clarity, though the AF offers versatility and a whole 'nother level of power. The Dueland caps that I'm stealing from Melvillian take the Af up a level in a way that is 'right now' noticeable, bigly. The difference to my ear is the clarity between the Duelands and stock. I can't comment on the Jupiters, haven't heard them.

    Overall, just... Damn

I'm in a place where it is very 'not broke'. If someone else can get the same sound for $100 less, God Bless them. Really. I'm not gonna fix what ain't broken. That said, invite me to listen yours and I'll drive up and bring the beers. Hopefully you live across the street from a 7/11 :D

    Bill,

I don't have an Aficionado. But, when the Duelund bypass caps are used with Duelund caps, the sound just seems to get better. Google search and see what you find. The change is easy enough to undo....

Or don't even think about it. It was just a suggestion after all.

    I misunderstood, apologies,

I thought the caps you were mentioning were in replacement of what I already have. You're saying though that they are in addition to what I already have, yeah? Well OK then, I'll look around, thanks Man!

I thought you would know what was meant by "bypass caps". They are wired in parallel with the main cap.

@winders, the caps @BillOhio has In his amp are the copper/silver hybrids and don’t need to be bypassed as this is already done inside the cap by Duelund.

I never recommend this cap because of it's silly price. It's a CAST copper cap bypassed with a CAST silver cap. Their silver caps are so obscenely expensive that they don't list them. They're custom made only and I read an article stating that 6uF caps cost $12,000/piece LOL

I think you can get Luhndahl pure silver wire interstage transformers for less money and you get far more silver.

Silver wire is easy to work with, silver castings are an enormous pain in the behind.

It's not the amount of silver, since its often cheaper than copper these days, it's working the metal.

Still expensive, but there's a reason.

Interesting. I did not know they had a cap with internal bypassing.

Another interesting data point is that I have read that even caps with internal bypassing can benefit from external bypassing. I have no experience with that myself in regards to the Duelund copper/silver caps so I have no idea if there would be anything to gain there. It’s not an experiment I will trying any time soon either. Just throwing it out there.....

I think they’re meant for ultra fancy crossovers.
