    I've heard the HEDDphone and felt like it was neat but needed another generation or two to be competitive at that price level. At the monoprice budget level though, assuming they can match HEDD for sound "quality", well I'm curious to see how that stacks up.

    The only mod I've seen is someone stuffing the cup around the driver with some batting. But he really didn't explain the changes the mod made other than "sound is more natural than ever. Always punch, detailed, dynamic".

    The Monoprice Monolith M1570C is currently on sale for $199.99. It's a great planar headphone at that price. I got mine for around the same price a few months ago and I'm digging them. Pic below is my set modded with some custom Vesper Audio pads, Hart Audio cable, and I painted the cups 3 stage Candy Root Beer.

    The LP DAC is a definite step up. I was hesitant because the LP is a D/S DAC. But I bought one. The sound is warm, smooth, musical and the resolution and separation of voices and instruments is superb. This LP DAC, LP or LG amp and the M1070C are fantastic together with a balanced Hart cable.

    What the heck? How did this go down to $265? Why didn't Monoprice price it appropriately the first time? This is such a bad look on their part.

    I think monoprice is discontinuing the cavalli stuff and blowing out inventory. Also, Amazon s out of stock and I think it’s unlikely they will get more. We’ll see.

    The price was $553. Then it went up to $680. Then it suddenly dropped to $265 last night. Geat buy! I got the $265 price. I see that the price has returned to $680 but none are in stock.

    I think the LP DAC is noticeably better than the MMB2 and I really like both the MMB1 and MMB2. I have not used the LP DAC single ended.
