    Relatively small boxed coaxial won't be that dynamic. Another Vidar MIGHT help but you should probably look at 8 inch woofer or larger for dynamics.

    It's definately the speakers. You need more sensitive speakers with bigger woofers to get the same kind of dynamics you're used to with the HD800. Until the late 80s, you could get "bookshelf speakers" with 12" woofers.

    LS50 felt especially limp dick in dynamics department, even compared to same sized monitors. To outdo HD800 slam you really need to get 12'' or bigger bass and some lively mid-tweeter action.

    LS50's excel with many things, dynamics just arent one as others have alluded. I have a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 2's (similar size) that swing wider/hit harder. Or go BWC as suggested above :)

    *edit: sorry, didnt see that this was over a year old. Probably solved this issue by now. Ha.
