Oh it was certainly a trend here too (considered it for myself— imagine, haha) but the stylist was given a reference and it was nowhere near.
Also there are odd green tones to her hair, and it's about a foot shorter than before. No, she did not ask for a cut, but it was dry and damaged so they had no choice.
In about 1968 I got home from school, one day, to discover that my mother's jet-black hair was bright orange!
Thankfully, she was not crying, but, along with the rest of us, could not stop laughing. The intention had been to avoid the tedious 'going' part of going grey and get it over with in one go.
Went back to the salon almost immediately after. They tried fixing it a bit and now it's an ashy blonde colour at the ends.
It kinda sucks since my sister was pretty fond of her hair, but as you say, it does grow back. Ah well, maybe she'll just thwock the lot off and rock a pixie cut or something.
Glad they were able to fix it at least a little. Sorry to hear about the hair though. On the plus side, at least she escaped without face/scalp injuries. I've heard some real horror stories...
