I'm still learning to play bass. Havent had much time recently to play though. I played cello all through high school though, so that gives me an advantage. However, I never truly read sheet music. I see a note, and I know what finger that corresponds to on my cello. Ask me to tell you what note it is, and ill be counting lines on the staff.
I actually have enough bass I bought a fretless neck for and new strings to tune it like a cello. So I can play that one, but have to stretch my fingers. Makes me understand why bass is tuned in 4ths instead of 5ths like a cello. Hard to reach 4 notes up to get to the next string.
I'm in college. I don't need power tools. What I need is nerf guns. Note to self: don't try to fire a poker chip out of the disc nerf guns, it will get permanently stuck in the gun. I'm going to have to take it apart to get it out.
I get the impression that you absolutely adore the hobby, and even given the "less ideal setup", you still want to enjoy it. You're committed. Rock on bro.
Ill have more space next year. I'm trying to upsize to a altec 511b horn/ big woofer system. Should fit in the on campus apartment next year. If not, ill make it fit. Not like my Dalhquist DQ-10 system really fits in my room at home. https://imgur.com/aCnDrUD
i m always impressed how taking time off one's main rig resets the brain XD, take a mediocre schiitty setup, and u actually feel u r finally enjoying the music... then come back and u r in heaven :9
