@fraggler I have Micca MB42X and a 8" Dayton subwoofer. Tuned the sub right at the lowest FR of the Miccas and it sounds great. It honestly sounds better than my big Klipsch towers for music, which isn't all that surprising. Still I think something like a KEF Q100 would be much nicer. Amp is smsl SA-50, so probably the weakest link in my 2.1 system.
how long have you had the system? It sounds like you're really enjoying it and you've found some good system synergy and have integrated your sub really well. It might make sense to enjoy it until you have a definitive list of things that annoy you then make a change.
I think one of the tough things about the budget space is that it's easy to run into the problem of "too much amp, not enough speaker." There really aren't many compelling amplifier options between the SA-50, and say a Vidar. And does it really make sense to run a $700 amp with $300 speakers? I run the SA-50 with my BS-22s, so I'm in a similar boat
That is good advice, thank you. I have had the Miccas since august 2016, and the sub since november 2016. However, I didn't do any serious music listening on them, preferring my Modi Multibit>jot>hd650s, until I got this turntable a couple weeks ago. I listened to the first couple records on the speakers and was blown away with how good it sounded. Before that I usually only used them when watching movies or youtube.
@LetMeBeFrank That would be rad, and actually fill a pretty good-sized hole in the 2-channel market. I've been poking around at some entry-level pro gear, like the QSC GX3, since the budget hifi offerings from Onkyo, et al. are a little underwhelming.
