    Haha! Well, here's the good news: you don't have to spend a lot for great sound. My speakers, receiver, and DAC total to less than $500. I'm still excited to see what Schiit has in store for us, but I'm pretty proud of what I've built with little money.

    What speakers did you get?

    By my speakers receiver and DAC total to $150 without my subwoofer. Everything was cheap used. Subwoofer was new because of a gift card.

    @Merrick nothing special, I've had the ELAC B6 for about half a year now. Gets the job done. Looking to get into fullrange speakers soon, perhaps building one of the Madisound kits that Marv and OJ recommended.

    I have nice full range omega speakers. Can recommend them, amazing cabinet quality and finish. But cheapest ones are 565$. I got older ones for $110 used

    $110? That's insane. Omegas are definitely on my list, alongside Blumenstein Orcas. Are you driving them with your receiver?

    Yeah, using my receiver. Not too insane of a deal, mine don't use Omega's own drivers, they use tang band, but still quite good. Just the cabinet would be worth $110. Solid construction, nice dampening inside, high quality real wood finish, mine look particularly amazing with the black swirly wood laminate.

    Just saw on google images. They look beautiful! You've got a good start for being so young. Wish I had something like SBAF when I was your age, would've saved me a ton of cash.

    Great deal on the Omegas! I'm planning on getting some Orcas soon-ish.

    @Merrick any idea what you'll be driving them with? I'm tempted to grab one of Bottlehead's speaker amps since I've read that they pair well. I know Clark is a fan of BH and perhaps even tunes his speakers accordingly to their amplifiers.

    @Pyruvate I'm going to use my Onkyo receiver while I assess my amp options and wait to see what Schiit releases for power amps. I need to do some auditioning to get a better sense of what the speakers are capable of and what they have synergy with.

    @spwath Those are stunning!

    Yeah. I could use a better amp though. Holding out for the Schiit for now.
    I wonder how much the Schiit will cost... hopefully they have cheap options

    @spwath I've been following Jason's posts on both HF and SBAF like a hawk. He mentioned that it'll be over $500. I have no doubt that it'll punch well above whatever they price it at. That isn't to say there'll be cheaper options in the future. Needless to say, the 2 channel world is well overdue for a good shakeup.

    I'm not going to buy a power amp until I have a chance to see/hear what Schiit does, unless I get some ridiculous deal.

    I have an AV receiver (harman kardon AVR5) pushing a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors. I have an RCA switch box that switches between the Black Widow and AVR5 coming from the Gungnir Multibit.
