  Apparently I can get similar tonality out of my EC2A3 if I roll in Sovteks. I can finally just leave the EML Mesh in for good for pristine recordings.

  Don't. Past 15", the woofers are more freakshow. It's not optimal in terms of mass, surrounds, magnets, etc.

  No 'hiss', but when its pot is maxed it hums faintly with HD800. With more efficient things it's already annoying, but I don't need to crank it all the way. Hiss could easily be bad tube or lose/bad contact with tube base.

  Truth is I know that Genelecs in neutral environment are not that far apart from HD800X in terms of brightness, but I still prefer the speakers. Strange, yet even the metal domes are smoother than HD800 up top.
