I never watch awards shows. Sick in bed and bored so I turned on the Grammys. Such a joy to see Tracy Chapman up there! What an icon. Feb 4, 2024

What's with Pepsi seemingly owning the Pacific Northwest? When I was there last week I rarely saw Coke.

        Both are disgusting!

No idea why I dislike that flavour that the whole world seems to love, but I do. Feel the same about KFC too!

I'm really digging it. I also picked up their Starless boxset. A bit expensive but top notch packaging and a shit ton of well recorded live material.

You might wanna check out Tune Hifi. Christian, who works there, was one my favorite guys in the community when he lived here: knowledgeable and a straight shooter.

The 12 inch mixes and originals often have longer cuts and better production values. Every good artist should release a compilation of their 12 inch versions. I would buy all of them.

I stick by digital and CD. Yet I know I miss out on so much music. Do not get me started about old Decca, Philips and DG recordings...

What iOS app do you use for playing FLAC? (I realize that I can play ALAC natively, not the question)
      1. GanGreinke
        GanGreinke
If you need to play FLAC greater than 16/44.1 at their native resolution (using a USB connected DAC), then you could use the Onkyo HF Player with the $10 HD player pack in-app purchase. The UI isn't the best, but it is one of the few options that allows you to play the files without downsampling.

All great songs. Probably not the same top 10 list I would come up with but 21 Century Schizoid Man would also be my number 1 if for no other reason than it was my first real hook to King Crimson when I was like 7 years old.

My personal #3 of KC is Cadence and Cascade. Great overall song, vocals and instrumental background is perfectly blended together, creating a really haunting sound. #1 and #2 is still Schizoid Man and Epitaph of course.

You might be on to something with the odd snare drum. It might not be compression, as much as some other odd mixing choices that I'm hearing. The remaster was a disaster (as the link you provided noted).

I love the Cure and use Pictures of You as a test track. The shimmering high notes are a great way for me to hear the treble qualities of a signal chain.

My favorite song on that album remains The Same Deep Water As You. So many memories from that one.

I stream about 5000 tracks a month, with about 3000ish of those on Apple Music. 3*13=$39, which is more than my subscription cost.

Tidal supposedly pays the most. Apple can afford to pay more because they have no free tier, and they're a late entrant to the market and need to make up ground, so they can better exclusives if they pay better.

From what I've read they aren't doing super duper financially. As long as they're the only lossless game in town (will change soon) they probably have no motivation to put resources elsewhere
