I have the previous generation digi96/8 on the shelf. I'd still be using it as a DAC except... it makes funny noises now.

Couldn't bear to throw it away, though: my introduction to hifi from a computer, back in the day when most sound cards were very much not.

I am just curious about these cards. They are still selling them and they are pretty close to 13 years old. Must be doing something right...

When I got my card, which was maybe 2002-ish, it was already obsolete and being sold at about half price... and a hundred uk pounds was *still* a huge amount of money to spend on a sound card! But not as much as Lynx, which was probably nearer a thousand of those pounds even then.

Analogue i/o and optical digital i/o. With a tape-switching box, a couple of tape decks and a mini-disk it all combined with my PC as a fairly complex record-anything to anything-else setup.

And first off was the experience... "Huh? This sounds better than my Cyrus CD player!"
