No doubt the vet specialist will be receiving "oral attention" from the cat as well ... "chomp, chomp ... chomp ...", or "nom, nom, nom" at least.

Not likely. Our furry companion will be anesthetized for oral surgery. Going to be a long day.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. My cat is going to see a cardiologist about a heart murmur and I know how nerve wracking it can be to worry about a furry family member's health.

    Thank-you all.

Today will be challenging. Furry companions are family. @zerodeefex : wow, I've been through that before. wishing you the best and hope it is relatively benign. Our previous furry companion developed HCM. Learned how to give meds, injections and the fine art of home respiratory therapy.

Dr. Emmett update: he will be losing both upper canines due to resorption lesions. All other teeth appear to be in good shape.

    Poor little bugger!

I hope he's at least giving the vet a good nomming in his dreams.

For a moment, I thought that there might be music-lovers' cats in need of attention from *aural* specialists.

But I see this is serious. All the best to the vet-attending cats out there. And to their humans. May all be well.

@atomicbob --- Hope your cat is doing well. Removal of bad teeth can work wonders. Had a cat that we seriously thought was on the way out: took her to the vet, who yanked out a tooth, and she showed us she had a good few years left to live and enjoy :)

Amazing the importance of good dental hygiene, both furry companions and pet parents. Thank-you @Thad E Ginathom , great story. Dr. E is purring and so happy to be home, staying close to pet parents. On meds for a week. Sitting next to me and watching as I make final set of Pontus SE measurements.

I hope he/she is still doing well, and vet visit all forgotten :)

Dr. Emmett is doing much better and not careening off the walls now that the anesthesia has cleared. Still experiencing a slow release 72 hr pain med but he is navigating the house without stumbling. He is remaining close and purring as he recovers. All looks good. Thank-you for kind thoughts.

Did you take him home when he was still woozy? I did that... just once. Collapsing cat; head on hard tiled-concrete floor. Worrying.
After that I always let them sleep it off at the vet.

He was still feeling the effects of the anesthesia when brought home. One hour trip home helped some. Still, we were careful to monitor his wanderings and confine him to safe spaces with carpet. Your experience sounded positively unpleasant. It helps somewhat that I am in the medical device business and have ER / OR / ICU experience.

It was unpleasant, and I don't think I handled it well. When stubborn animals like cats have to be caged for hours or a day, it is better for the likes of me to leave it to the professionals.

No harm done, in the end. The cat concerned made a full recovery.
