I'll be curious how it fits in your recommendations. I always appreciate your sensible advice on portable setups. I know the Noble X and UE4, w/ an AK JR was your mid-tier combo recommendations at one point, depending on sound preference. (You don't have an AK JR currently, do you? Read Shotgunshane's take on the combo...)
It supplants the UE4. Same sensibilities with more bottom end. The noble x is more fun but if I had a single IEM under $500, it would be the plus. It has some great cohesion to the sound.
This is great to hear! I was totally going to get the UE4 on Monday so I'll plan on ordering it instead. I'll be looking forward to hearing recommendations as far as sources, as they come about. What have you listened to it with so far?
I do have an AK jr. Will try it later (time for sleep).
Listened off Christian's AK240 and my iPhone SE. Will do LH Labs battery DAC/amp, ZX2, AK Jr, A17 and whatever else I can find. Packed up Mojo to send to Marv or I'd use that too.
please do not overthink the chain with a $299 IEM. yes I heard Massdrop plus+ out of GO2PRO SE, and it was very cohesive with some bass bump yet not bass oppressive. just accept it's not TOTL for bass or treble and be happy.
@imackler Ak Jr and ZX2 both bad pairings. Surprisingly the Noble lightning cable is better than either if you have an iPhone. If you need something more universal and are willing to spend, the GO2A is a nice step up. That being said, the plus with the $80 lightning cable is a great little portable setup for iPhone users.
Thank you for taking the time to test, @zerodeefex. The impressions are valuable to me. Sounds like i've got a decision between keeping the AK JR or getting the Plus. (I've got a Pixel XL; I can't imagine the high OI will do the Plus any favors.)
@imackler. It's almost tuneable. Do you want bigger bass? Go up in OI. Do you want it more neutral and tighter down low? Keep it lower OI. FWIW, @CEE TEE tuned with the ak240 which is about 3 ohm OI measured. That's similar to the AK Jr.
