I pick up an iPhone X today and can give you a better picture overall soon. I think the regular pixel 2 is a phenomenal phone and @brencho really likes his. Great camera and awesome software.

I'm going to probably also pick up an essential phone. I really like that thing. The camera is pretty good after the latest update, too.

Honestly, I still swear by the pixel line due to the software experience and how well they utilize the on device neural network/ML and AI stuff.

If you need a reliable, bug-free phone, go with the Pixel 2 over the Essential. My Essential Phone is still a bit buggy, even after updates.

Annoyingly even the Pixel 2 costs more than a Note 8 in my part of the world.

@zerodeefex I'll be looking forward to that. Thanks!
I'm currently leaning towards a Note 8. Cause of DEX Dock w/ M+KB for easy multimedia & desktop-like use w/ HDTV, good (IP68) water resistance, Wide+Regular cameras for when stuff don't fit in the shot/frame (OIS is a nice plus too), SD Card is very important to me, HP jack is neat to still have, Wireless charging is a must have (in-car/home) & S-Pen is useful too.

But that redundant & shoved-in TouchWiz UI/skin (though it seems to have already incorporated some needed Oreo firmware fixes and/or additions into Nougat) and therefore the usual long ass delay for Samsung to finally update to Android 8, seems like not worth to bother with...

...Let alone the gradual Software chugs & slow-downs overtime. I also did read about iPhones having much truer color-spectrum and no uniformity issues, unlike the previous Galaxy Note/S phones, even the Note 8 still suffers from that.

I might just hold off long enough to actually see what CES 2018 brings. Guh, it never ends. :\
