launder through paypal?

Paypal won't add it, either. Gives an error message when I try. I called Amex and they said the card is active and fine. *grumble*

Looks like it FINALLY worked via PayPal. Issue was the CVV code...the 3-digit # on the back of the card worked to check the balance, but the 4-digit # on the front of the card was needed to add to PayPal. Strange.

Maybe a long shot, but I think Paypal provides an option to just use them as a credit servicer even if you don't have an account. So you could enter the gift card info at the time of sale instead of adding it to your Paypal account and see what happens. Good luck!

Are you new to Amex? I never used the 3 digit on the back. Try Schiit with 4 digit in the front.

@Gaspasser Tried both through Schiit's site and neither worked. But PayPal worked like a charm. Now, I just have to wait for it to go off backorder.

Yes, new to Amex. This was a gift card from my cross country runners.

Sometimes with pre-paid gift cards they want you to register the address for verification...that may be why it’s declining. Just a thought...

Yep, I read that as well @captkirk . But I couldn't register an address through the Amex site, so it was a dead end there.

Yeah, AMEX is always the 4-digit number on the front. Regardless of gift card or credit card.

If Schiit accepts PayPal, maybe you can try going that route? Adding the Amex to PayPal and paying through them. Just an idea...
