Microsoft should have continued support for W8. W8 was almost problem free after updates and Classic Shell. W10 Pro has issues that remind me of Vista. I looked online for solutions and customer support is bad. If fixing the issues becomes too bothersome I have to switch my desktop-machine to Linux and keep the Surface Pro for Windows compatibility.
I haven't been having probs with Win10 personally. @jowls "a little hacky" - it's the story of Linux. When I was running it in the past it was always troubleshooting this or that driver issue.
I dont know who you are anymore without the Homestarrunner avatar.
Back in the day i tried ditching windows for Linux. Found out quickly that I couldn't run games or a lot of popular programs. So I turned to Apple and never looked back. MacOS isn't perfect but dealing with malware has gone waaaaaaaay down.
The irony of the Fall creators update, it broke my sister's Surface Pro. Good going MS. Still trying to fix it. Other than this hiccup, I've liked W10 so far. I use it on my desktop rig and my work laptop.
I prefer linux but I'm forced into win10 because of software. That being said one of my win10 machines ran win7, went through the free update and all subsequent updates and it still works great. My other machine needed a new motherboard and several reinstalls to work properly. My laptop runs Elementaryos, great interface, if the shell would run stable on arch i would switch though.
Since reading "Alice In Wonderland" I felt like switching avatars. An imaginary cat with magical powers and grin to fear or cherish is my kind of cat. Cheshire cat is the cat I like...
