Just did a search here. Seems at lot of you are in the 48%. Screw it. It will be on cable eventually. Save 2 1/2 hours and money.

My rec is just go see it and don’t overthink it (at least not until after the movie). Chances are you will enjoy it if you do that.

If only I could. I was a film major for a very short time. Can’t not think while I’m watching. I was 21 when the first one came out. Same age as Carry Fisher. Makes a difference I think. Really didn’t like Force Awakens. If this is worse.... I’ll spend the money for a lunch out instead. But thanks just the same.

Star Wars movies don't really ask you to think critically while watching them. TLJ presents itself in such a way that it's almost taunting you into analyzing it. And when you do, it falls apart. It's like those young kids that walk around and boast about being philosophers and complex thinkers, while drunk, and when you actually probe them, you realize it's just a bunch of spaghetti in their brain.

In other words, if TLJ were a house, the movie makes very odd and noticable errors in it's own foundation and structural framework, even if it has interesting architecture and the outside and inside appears nice at first glance. TFA was structurally sound and clean inside but overall a cookie cutter design.

Sounds like a typical Hollywood mindless piece of crap. You go. You think it’s good. A few days later you realize it was just eye candy with no flavor.

Besides, I’m still pissed at the ending of Force Awakens. I know Ford wanted out. Could have been done dozens of different ways. Like he says NO to being in any more SW’s.

Really all I really want in a movie is good storytelling. Disney seems not up to the task with their SW’s.

I think the Rotten Tomatoes user score was achieved by using review bots to drive the score down. Star Wars fans can be hardcore.

I’m not going down that path. Given Mark Hamill’s repeated comments until his regrets (Disney’s legal team) I’ll wait until I can watch it at home. Did that with FA. That way if I don’t like it, I can at least drink! :)

It is a good movie. Solid 8/10. Better than the garbage Lucas put out (other than ANH). Some particularly die hard SW fans are pissed the movie didn't go the way they wanted it too. Personally I'm glad. We don't need another copy/paste SW formula. Interested to see where it goes in the next one, but apparently JJ is back for that one so it will probably be a nice looking but very shallow movie.

Personally my interest in SW has diminished over the years. Seems opinions are split. Not in the mood to risk sitting for 2 1/2 hours to see perhaps a good movie or be pissed like I was for FA. Thanks for the input everyone.

I thought it was pretty awful, probably the most dissapointing Star Wars movie I've ever seen. I basically don't think it had any redeeming qualities actually. Though, many fans are upset with how Luke was treated, I didnt mind that part at all. Overall the acting and scripting was cringy as f**k and very poorly done

Seems to be a common sentiment. I watched a couple of interviews with Mark Hamill supposedly to “promote the movie.” In one he says he told the director that he disagreed with everything the director was doing with Luke’s character. And he looked very uncomfortable in the other interviews. Best line when he was asked what was new in this episode he said “it’s the longest”.
