        As much as I adore headphones and personal audio (cuz of my living in a fairly cramped Asian neighbourhood etc), nothing beats speakers. Heck, even my phone speakers have given me chills some days. Just a matter of mood and the fact that yeah, while very often more technically competent, personal audio is just much more limited in scope.

        Take it all apart, rearrange the room a bit, rebuild it all cable by cable and see if that changes the experience. If nothing else it's a zen exercise and an excuse to tidy up.

        This is why I will always have multiple pairs of headphones and for some amps/dacs, multiple tube options. I need variety to maintain an emotional connection. I'm happy I could accomplish this without further gear cycling.

      Ok, I get it now. Thanks to the HD660S2 loaner tour and @mjames7 lending me his La Figaro 339i, I now get the real tube love. Whew boy!

        And yes, it does a lot even at 192 kHz. :) But I admit that one reason for keeping my eyes open for other DACs is that nervosa says it might be even better with a DAC that can swallow higher rates.

        I should also add that with the RU6, the difference between Roon and HQP wasn’t as big by far as with the Daccord, although it does 384 kHz. My guess is that the clock must be good in order to be able to appreciate the difference, but that’s just speculation.

        The sonic characteristics described by some folks on HF seem to align with my preferences (on paper) - and that price point is just so darn intriguing. But to your point, the concern would be with amp pairing...not sure if my Lyr 3 would be something sufficient to drive it!
