My compression drivers came with these connectors to connect to wires. How do I connect these to wires?

You can crimp them, crimp and solder them, or just solder the wires directly to the terminals on the drivers (thereby bypassing those spade connectors). Crimp tools are pretty inexpensive hardware store items because they're also used in home electrical wiring, and the crimping is often a secondary feature on wire cutters/strippers. I've even seen pliers with crimpers integrated into them.

I prefer crimping + soldering because it makes me feel better about the electrical connection.

Sounds good, I'll pick up a crimping tool. That way I can remove the driver if needed. I have 3 different compression drivers to try out now.

You dont crimp them to the drivers. They connect like a plug. There's a reason why it's called quick-connect or fast-on

I know, I mean so I can unplug the cable from the driver unlike if I directly soldered it.

Mock up of how it will look. Need to extend baffle in front of horn because horn is about 1" too long to fit with the driver. Looks good though...

Nevermind, looks like I just have to make the hole bigger. Should just barely fit depth wide once I just make the mounting hole a bit bigger.

First speaker basically completed! Just need to seal around horn with something.

Tested the speakers with the built in crossovers. Sound terrible. Highs are so much louder than the lows. Time to get an active crossover!
Actually, first, time to get money. Then Time to get an active crossover.

Try the passive crossover with the driver that came on the JBL horns, might work better.

I cant mount that to the 811b, it has 3 hole mounting, 811b has 2 hole. I could just throw some resistors/potentiometer in there until I get a proper active crossover.

I think an L-pad could work to reduce the loudness of the horn. It's just two resistors

How much does quality matter for that, ie, what is the cheapest thing I can but?

I would just get some Dayton Audio resistors for now. When you finalize the crossover you can get some money parts.

I've read somewhere that some resistors act a bit inductively. No idea if that's significant enough to cause problems, otherwise, other than power handling requirements, there shouldn't be anything that could be important regarding purely ohmic resistance, right?.

Second speaker done. Added l pad to this one. Just have to do it to the other, and they will be done for now.

Amazing how you turned a speaker that looks like a dog into the speaker on the left. :p Nice job.

I really like the design. Looks like it’s the auto set up unit, the one that positions itself for optimal sound. Is it ported in the back? :D

Seriously. Nice job. Hope they sound great. Those old Altec’s were great speakers back in the day. Loud too.

With my 400w amp I'll be able to make these heard all over campus! And should sound good too.
