    I think of them like variometers on ultralight planes.

    Nice to have if something goes wrong, but otherwise not very useful.

    At this price point at least Cinemags. Lundahl would probably work too.

    Main thing is that output transformers are a huge factor in the price of a tube amp, otherwise I wonder what I'm paying for. The Eddie Current Aficionado is cheaper than this and uses Cinemag transformers and has an all metal enclosure along with a separate power supply.

    That's not to say you can't have a nice sounding amp with Hammond's. But there's a lot of flags showing that this is more of a 'lifestyle' amp and not concerned with sound first.

    If i were to buy a tube amp, this might be the one:

    It's a Don Sachs Kootenay 120 KT88 amplifier. It is a push/pull design with with 65 watts per channel. In triode mode it has 35 watts per channel.
