The V2+ (AD1865) was remarkably unremarkable to me after trying it for a few months (and invoking a "no questions asked" refund policy - ask me about that another time). Granted the V3 is something new altogether. The Mojo Audio website says he went with the AD1862 in the V3. Interesting, because he was developing the V3 around the PCM63, which he thought was the best DAC he'd ever heard after trying a shit load. Supply issues maybe, but he also said the PCM60P-K was "20% better" than the AD1865 and the AD1862 was only "10% better". He's one of those % guys. And holy mother of God on the pricing; $5555 for single ended and $7555 for balanced? I want to say ... what's the point of a loaner tour at those levels. Previous target V3 pricing, he told me, was $3500 or "certainly under $4k" with a better chip (PCM63), which he stated had 70% better resolution. So the 20% discount isn't a discount at all really. Just another %ism.

I agree, those prices are quite high. He also insists the use source has to be wonderful, say, for example, his music server. Ben is a very intense guy with "focused" opinions. If there is no interest, I would certainly understand.

I would be open minded to try this. Clean slate. But the price has me worried, as does the potential shipping and insurance costs for the loaner...

I priced a 20lb box with $5,000 insurance for FedEx ground (NM to CA), and it's $71. Same price for 10lb box too. Not really that bad.
    For $7000 insurance it's $91

Not enough interest, so I'm gonna officially drop this. Thanks for looking.
