Interesting. I've only really been "into" this hobby for a few years, hard to imagine Sennheiser doing a poor job of anything...easier to see with HFM. I suppose the old-style HFM stuff does look a little "agricultural" and they certainly aren't the last word (possible not even the first) in build quality...but it does seem like sound-wise, they have a strong following. I am a bit surprised that they killed the HE-6, seeing how many like it. I know the cynics will say "But how can they sell an HEK, HEX, Susvara with the HE6 hanging around at $1200" - but I don't know if it's at all reasonable to assume that even a significant percentage of HE6 owners would pop for the Susvara, seeing as that's sort of the true successor to the 6.

That aligns w/what I've heard re: the revised Audeze cans too, I imagine the diaphragm makes a far stronger difference than waveguides on the magnets. Will be interesting to see how the 2c diaphragm compares to the 2r2 diaphragm and the 2f diaphragm...although I doubt anyone's going to tear one apart for science.

I used to own a pair of LCD3s but I had to sell them due to their weight.
Audeze customer support has said that the LCD-2C will weigh 549grams. For reference the LCD 3 is 629grams.
They will also be using the current gen diaphragms but without the fazors

No new headphones for me for the next year (at least that's what I keep telling myself). However, I never got to hear the original or v2 LCD-2, and I wonder how these would compare to my LCD-X (which I still love for Rock/Metal).

Nice to see from the Audeze website that a consumer used to our monthly payment economy can purchase their products for "10-30% APR" on a 12-payment plan.

I quite enjoyed my LCD-2s (pre-fazor) back when I had them, it'd be interesting to hear the 2C now that I've been on the Sennheiser bandwagon for so long. Now if only I didn't almost always just lurk, maybe I could get in on the tour.

It seems strange that there a no reviews of these yet. I wonder if the price will go up before we have a chance to hear from any credible reviewers.

They haven't shipped. I suspect they'll ship when the price goes up.

Sad. HFM beat them to the punch. Talk about badly managing expectations. I thought I remember their site at the time of order saying it will ship at beginning of December. And their site says available now.

The more I think about this Audeze pre-order “holiday pricing”, the more I think this is a come on. $599. But you can’t really hear it first. “Trust us. It sounds great.” If you hesitate it will cost you $200 more. Sorry but Audeze stopped being a small company a long time ago. Would Schiit pull something like this? ZMF? LFF? But a company with large amounts of VC money? And a history of poor QC and a parade of models. All we are told fixes “the problem”. I loved my LCD2rev2. It didn’t last 6 months before it needed to be sent back. How many of you LCD owners have had to send your cans back under warranty? Yes service is great. But really. Just too many promises and pretty much the same results. Now we are going to go back to a notoriously unreliable headphone, but this one is fixed. I hope I am wrong. I would be the first to buy this. But this smells. IMHO. And if you know me I am usually too trusting.

The main reason I've sold both Audeze's I've had is because I'm scared of running out of that warranty, it's way too much money for something with this rep. It would be nice if it was lifetime or even 10 years for peace of mind. I might even get another one but I'd end up selling before that 3y total time ran out.

The last minute switch from when they were first previewed at $600 to the "just kidding, $600 is the holiday pricing" put a really bad taste in my mouth. I used to be a really big fan of Audeze, but nothing they do is oriented towards consumer satisfaction. The LCD2C doesn't even ship with a Pelican case, they pitch crystal infused nylon rings like some cable company

At this point they've given up trying to even tune their drivers, they just give you EQ software and DSP if you pay enough

edit: And another point, the LCD2 normal at this point goes for $750 anyways, so this just seems like a cheap way to manipulate fan nostalgia to charge an extra $50 with less accessories... depending on if it sounds good or not

I went to Addicted 2 Audio in Melbourne the other day to try the Audeze range and they told me the introductory price was going to be happening for at least the first couple of production runs. Didn't seem to think we'd see an increase for a while.

It was a great experience and a reminder of why you should ALWAYS hear headphones yourself if possible before shelling out silly money. I tried to LCD4 and found them almost claustrophobic with a midrange that almost seemed a bit fuzzy or smoothed over and without the extension of dynamics that I love. Horses for courses.

I reckon a nice after-Christmas gift then, is it not?

@Scubadude Yea, I know now, I have stumbled upon it later on, but it took me so long to wrap my sick mind around all the posts I did not make it back in time to fix my failure..

I talked to audeze a little bit in November right before they kicked the lcd-2c into actual production. Even a week before they started making it, they seemed not to be totally set on the price for the long run if they wanted to keep it at the lower price or the regular price.

The lower price would mean for a reseller less margin but higher volume or lower volume but higher margin with the higher price. I'll probably find out next week as I would like a pair for our showroom.

Is anyone tight enough with Audeze to spill the beans on the technical differences between the LCD-2C and LCD-2 ? I wish the Audeze website explained the differences between their models a little bit better.

Does anyone know how long the "holiday pricing" will last? I'm going out of town and don't want them sitting on my porch for several days before I get home, but I don't want to pay $800...

Another option, if you know you're going to buy and when you'll be back - you can redirect the shipment to a nearby Fedex location, and they will hold it for up to 5 business days.
