Wow, @Hands, I'm stunned. The FR story is awesome. And to think I almost missed it...

I tried Sine twice (weeks apart) with Mojo. Mojo treble made Sine even worse. The first song I picked was a fast emo-rock (FATM), and the upper-mid to treble roughness/harshness was instantly noticeable. Even though stock HD800 is brighter, the treble is more even to my ears compared to Sine. Plus Sine CSD wall made it sounds hazy, not clean like HD800. Hazy, bright, rough, dry = I'd choose to endure HD800 dental drill over this. Bass & mid are fine for mid-fi portable though.

But then, my custom IEM (Alclair RSM) sounds wayyy moar refined for just a bit more $. Audeze Sine, you failed!

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because I really like the Sine, more with the Cypher cable but also with the regular cable. I would never use them for critical listening but they're great for on the go and if I just want to kick back and have some music on.

I thought it was kind of a push. I liked the mids more on the sine, but the bass more on the HD25. Both have treble like @Hands described. I would have thought good amplification would have pushed these ahead (planars want current, blah blah, blah), but no such thing happened. And where did the planar bass go?

Now a technical push is a lose, if you ask me. The HD25 is half the price of the Sine. I still wonder if the Cypher cable is the magic elixir for these headphones. And more importantly. Can the Cypher cable be a headphone hacker's wet dream?

I just got a pait of Sines on a pre-stocktake clearance sale and I really, really like these headphones. The design has a certain stylish rightness about it. And it has a similarly right feel in the hand - a real premium feel. This impression of rightness carries through to the sound as well. Sort of like a grown up NAD HP50 with a little more clout. Soundstage is quite intimate as is to be expected by focus and imaging is spot on. Tonally, to my ears and without the benefits of measurements, just about perfect for an on-ear ... Some reviewers mention a slight glassy sheen really high up and it is there for sure but for me not in a troublesome way.

So on all counts a headphone that feels and sounds just so right. All but one ... Being an on-ear with a fair amount of headclamp it is not the most comfortable set around and espeically my left ear starts hurting badly after about 30 minutes. Other users have assured me if I stick it out it will wear in like a fine pair of shoes. But I'm thinking of another approach ... 3D printed adapters and MSR7 pads. I reckon this performance in a compact over-ear closed back headphone will be spectacular! The larger cavity may even fill in the bass a little. Has anyone measured a pair modified like this?

Also got these on clearance sale. Really late to the party but.. I love these headphones?!! With the Cipher cable and some extra EQ, these are the closest to my hi-fi set-up at home, except that I can use them basically anywhere!

If only the LCD-1 was tuned as well, it would have gotten a much better reception :D
