You know my gear is uber tweaked over acheiving and sounds amazing. Getting the urge to upgrade. New music every week is not doing it for me. But tweaking and tuning something new has my attention. Have a Mytek Brooklyn currently. Their customer service is effing lame so do not want to get another one. And I know now Schitt CS is not as good as it used to be. They dont like it if you open the case to swap fuses... Tuning and tweaking my gear, that is my pleasure. Finding a shortcoming and turning it into a strength. So this is why I want something other than Schiit. If I might come into an issue. Dont want a headache from them.

What, you don't listen to components and form opinions based on what you hear?

If you're giving a class on how to tweak DACs using metallurgy then sign me up! Maybe you could put it on Youtube or something.

What kind of issues are you talking about? No manufacturer wants to deal with modded equipment. When there is a problem, the best they can do is restore an item back to original factory condition (at your cost, if you caused it).

Everything is tweaked. That's a bold statement.

If you're really into "tweaks", you're more than welcomed to join the DIY discussion of cap rolling, transformer rolling, or even resistor rolling. SBAF has a secret society of quite a few DIYers. They may even tap into the design of stuff.

If you just stop at just cables and power, don't be surprised to find those DIYers be hostile to your bold statement.

Is tweaking the cause or effect of madness?

    ;)

I'm sure there is a cautionary tale or two to be told. When I indulged in cap and tube rolling my wife took up eye rolling.

Out of interest, if a twerking tweaker could tweet twerks how many twerks could a twerking tweaker tweet?

The air of superiority emanating from someone's nether-regions is overpowering my sense of humor. Must...get...oxygen, if I can stop laughing long enough.

    Huge indicator your system sucks.

You want to get to a point where it's just easier to get new content and harder to upgrade - too lazy (that is not worth the effort) or too poor.

Gil has been organizing can meets in the greater Puget Sound region for many years. Approximately four each year in various locations to allow participation by people with limited means of travel. A wide variety of participants at various experience levels, some with strong audio religions and others without. I attend several each year when my schedule and health cooperate. Next one is at Bottlehead headquarters.
