Hoping for an Andro tuned DD. Will be interesting to see them in person and feel the weight - quite a new direction to chassis design.

I very much enjoy my Vegas, so very interested on how the Atlas differs in tuning. A bit worried that the 10mm driver + stainless steel body = too bulky/heavy...

Can we get some tuning or sound signature info? Compared to Andro or Vega? I’m interested enough, due to how much I enjoy the Vega, to consider pre-ordering; however, need some sort of info as to how it compares. “Up the Vega game” in what ways? Not exactly the audience for generic marketing statements on this forum...

I’d also be curious for a size comparison photo. Part of the benefit of the Vega, to me, is they are small, comfortable, and relatively inconspicuous.

for one, it's made in Portland and not china like vega, also they could be worn up or down.

Im so stoked on both these changes. I have nothing against eastern production but theres something to be said for something being designed and made in the same area.

As for the OI Andro tuning im looking for, whatever comes out of the Sony DAPs is what I like. I never really loved the Andros out of the iPhone 6 or even the Sony LDAC wireless adapter but they came into their own on the ZX300.

That being said I haven't tried the Vega from multiple sources and am not sure whether the differences DAP vs. phone are as stark.

    Hey Guys,

Ill try and address everyones questions.

    • The Atlas will be available for demo at Axpono and SoCal shows we will be there.
    • Sorry the Atlas we are still in the process of building them and will not be shipping them until May 1st.
    • The Atlas is a larger physically than the Vega and heavier, however by no means is the Atlas a large IEM, not excessively heavy also.
    • The Atlas is similar to the Vega in sound, I hear the Atlas as having a slightly larger sound, larger impact from A-Z, pushes more air... I would rather have others dive deeper into the AB Vega / Atlas so that will come soon. However we feel that this size 10mm, is as good as it will get. If we go over 10mm the high freq starts to not be as nice. I prefer the Atlas over the Vega, sorry I am not being more descriptive here.
    • Atlas is proudly hand assembled (built) in Portland Oregon. I am super proud of my team and how hard we all worked to move the bulk of our production back home. I cant say enough praise for the team here, from engineering, design, assembly, testing, QC and packaging.
    • I cant say enough about how sweet the stainless steel body is, no more rubbing off anodized colors and I like the way stainless steel ages as it gets uses. To me the more its used the better/cooler it looks.
    • To my ears the Atlas in the end game for DD IEMs, I can not make a better DD IEM... unless there is some masterful speaker tech that happens in the future folks the Atlas is the gold standard.
    • Best bang for the $$, the Comet is really going to be a treat and nothing I have heard at this price point comes close. These new IEMs look feel and sound like a million $$, we are thrilled to be able to offer these.
    • Once the Atlas is available we can get a loner going, sorry for the delay.

SBAF community, thank you sooooo much for being so cool to the CFA family, we love you.

Please come to SoCal show or Axpono and say hi.

    Ken

Being a long-time CFA user, can't wait to try out these new bits of ear jewelry and do a proper Vega/Andro/Atlas head-to-head shootout. Keep up the good work Ken!

Unfortunately for those of us hoping for CFA to rescue us with a neutral endgame DD, it seems a CFA house sound has emerged and it's unmistakably and unapologetically basshead.

Give them time. CFA certainly offers a variety of tunings in their lineup. Let's wait and see what listening impressions of this one are like. And since Ken Ball is on here, I'm sure he's aware of this desire for DD's with a different tuning. And I believe he's stated that there are some technical reasons that he's not able to provide an Andro tuned DD (forget if this was posted here or elsewhere).
