@Marvey, agreed on the USPS defects. however, they are the absolutely fastest way from East to West. (i buy a ton of stuff from east of the Mississippi.)

Loaner arrived in great shape yesterday.

 

I didn't see a dedicated impressions thread for the Orion so I'll say it here:

HFS, these things impressed me so much I'm selling some gear to buy a pair.

I listened to them out of my iPhone 6+ except for a brief and uninspiring few tracks from my Jot.

Out of the phone they blow me away. Out of the Jot, not so much.

They have that same engaging quality that the Focal Utopias do. No, they're not $350 IEM Utopias... don't take my words that literally. But they do have that same quality of engagement and aliveness in the music that the Utopias have.

I think I'd be a tiny bit nervous about doing chores around the house w/Andromedas sticking out of my ears, but the Orions don't concern me that way, and they're a clear improvement (in terms of enjoyment) over my Mee Audio P1's. The P1's do bass impact a bit better and they're a more comfortable fit by a large margin, but I really don't miss that bass with the Orions, and the Orion fit is tolerable. The Orions are just so damn engaging!

I was not expecting to like these. I'm happy to be wrong in this case.

FWIW, the Comply site says these work with the 400-size Comply tips. Maybe they do if you lube them up or something, but they're a much better fit with the 500-size barrels.

EDIT: I just realized a decent analogy. The Orions remind me of the Utopias the way the Volkswagen Sportwagen TDI reminds me of the BMW 328d. The VW is not a BMW, but it shares some of the same qualities in suspension tuning, etc.
