I was reading on the 'Recommended Amps for the HD800' thread that the BA could be converted to use the
2A3 tube, and was wondering if anyone here knows what needs to be done, and if it can be done by a DIY'er.

There's a thread over on the 'Site That Shall Not Be Named' that explains how to convert to using the PX25,
changing only a couple of resistors, so I was hoping the 2A3 would be as simple.

Ask @Marvey , and email Craig. Don't open the amp and try to figure it out.

You can order an BA in 2A3, but you cannot convert it easily. 2A3 heater is half voltage of 300B / PX4 but requires more current. The transformers for the heaters need to be swapped.

Nuts! So much for that idea. Thanks for the quick reply Marv. Guess I'll have to 'settle' for my EML 300B mesh's.
