Thx for the great thread. I have a Gungnir delta-sigma and wonder if I should upgrade it to multibit. Does anyone have experience with this upgrade?

It's a "return to base" upgrade, as stuff needs reflashing too. Don't lose sleep about doing it yourself.

Thx, is the difference between delta-sigma and multiunit real (i.e. substantial) or theoretical?

Introduce yourself in the proper thread on this board, and don't begin with stoopid questions when the searching/reading here will lead you to an answer.
typing this reply wasted more time than a Rando deserves.

    hello,

this is actually a very friendly place, if you take the time and effort to introduce yourself, lurk for a while, and do due diligence searching for an answer to a question before posting an inquiry and coming off as a dick.

there is an immense amount of solid advice and knowledge shared here. but if you walk in and start swinging your e-peen around, folks will not take kindly to it.

take a deep breath, then another one, find the advice for newbies, and f'ing read it, and act on it. maybe, just maybe you can find a place here.

I call Bullshit on this attitude.
Actually he was quite polite - certainly relative to the response, and Marv has made it clear that these are a) guidelines and b) we need to back off on dick-mode.

You self appointed little emo sheriffs who get your panties in a bunch so fast have your own issues. This is a forum, not a religion, and you are not 'chosen' to defend it, nor does your dick mode content help the S/N ratio.

Thanks, GoodEnoughGear. I will move into lurk mode since I don't want to further pollute this otherwise really impressive and useful thread.

In the interest of getting back on topic and providing some constructive advice, please learn how to use the search function(s) here before lazily posting questions, especially about popular products. Most of what is asked by new members has been asked and answered before so we get cranky.

Had you utilized the search function, you would have found the following threads:
More generally, the product's FAQ instructs you: "Well, then, how does Gungnir sound compared to Gungnir Multibit? Okay. We see where this is going. Let’s end it here. Both Gungnir and Gungnir Multibit offer formidable performance for the price. Gungnir has been lauded by the press and industry pundits as one of the finest-sounding DACs at its price, and is frequently compared to products that cost much more than it does. Gungnir Multibit brings class-leading Yggdrasil multibit performance to a more affordable price point."

tl;dr: The differences are not theoretical.

How so? I lurked for a few months until I got the feel of the place, and then introduced myself as outlined in, you know, the rules. Since then I've noted no 'asshole' behavior. Is it too much to ask for others to do the same? Isn't that what differentiates SBAF from other, more "inclusive" sites? Hey, I'm new here, so I may be off base. But it's interesting how your courageous stand stops at giving only the 'acquaintance' a dislike, but none of the 'Friends'....

I reported the friend internally, then felt i had to chime in when more were jumping on the bandwagon. I have no issues with the guidelines, but being a prick and potentially driving away a positive contributor makes no sense. Also the irony is thick - there's a double standard of note at work here. I'll leave any more response to the mods.

I am in favor of people searching for stuff themselves before they make an account. That way they can know how the forum works and whether they would fit in here without getting into passive-agressive mode with members and also save people's time having to respond to him. I think 95% of what most randos are asking for can be looked up pretty easily. Considering the guy made an account and hasn't posted in the introduction thread, and also responded to jexby's post without actually knowing why jexby posted that (anyone who has lurked long enough should know that we are assholes to randos who don't post in the intro thread and why). The moment he made an account, no wait, before he made an account, he should have looked through the introductions thread. This way we get less people who make an account, ask one (most likely unoriginal) question and leave.

EDIT: Positive contributors know not to regurgitate something that's been asked and has been quite widely talked about. That's how you get good and original questions. But that's not the point. No one minds an old question that's already been asked, as long as we know who's asking. Coming in and just asking old stuff without introducing yourself. Might as well be a copy-paste bot.

    hello,

@GoodEnoughGear, at no point did i think @Davidwat was not polite in his posts, what i object to is people jumping in without searching for answers or introducing themselves and getting upset when they are called on it.

is it too much to ask for new folks to try to figure out how to get along here before they get bit?

Okay, there's an 'internal' way of reporting Friends that circumvents the Dislike process, that apparently Acquaintances are not privy to-good to know! Now, knowing all that, please go on about the ironic "double standard" of which you speak. TIA!

Not at all! I take no exception to the guidelines whatsoever. The concern I have is the viciousness of the bite. When the bite equates to personal insult and cursing as the first course of action I can't help but feel that something is off-kilter. It certainly does not represent my values, and I would not raise my daughter to behave that way.
