I had a chance to try these this week and, if you have a large head, the comfort is noticeably worse than the TH-X00. The headband and yokes appear to be less curved (or at least angled differently, I didn't bring the TH-X00 for a side-by-side comparison). The result is that the farther you need to extend the spacers, the more the headband flattens out and puts all the pressure on a smaller spot on the top of your head.

Edit: It's a shame, because I liked what I heard from the short time I could wear them.

I picked up a pair of these last week at a white-van knockdown price, but they seem to be legit and intact.

I agree with others here that the comfort is likely to be a problem for those with larger melons (or thinning thatch), since the headband focuses rather than wraps round the head and produces almost immediate pressure, so I have a ZMF Pilot on the way, which should help. Sound-wise these strike me as fairly neutral through the mids with slightly grainy highs and a bass that's surprisingly articulate and unthumpy. They're an engaging listen, if not a mesmerizing one (for me anyway) yet, and I like them as versatile closed cans that sound less fatiguing and pressure-domey (clamped, sound coming at rather than to you) than some of their peers. They're a "sins of omission" HP for me, with some nice pluses thus far too. Looking forward to listening to them more carefully over the next few weeks.

Fit is not ideal on people with bigger or wider heads. It's the way the gimbals come down with their curvature. Forces the top of the headband to rest more flatly on top of the head rather than comform around it.

Such a bummer that you guys have had fit issues. I'd say my head is average size, but on the narrower side so the fit is fine for me. You comments remind me of when I found a great deal on NAD HP50s a few years ago and couldnt get a seal around my jawline due to the stupid headband and square pads.

It feels like theres some sort of internal strip of plastic right beneath the leather providing extra suspension that might be causing the discomfort. Maybe @Maxx134 can figure out how to defeat it without ruining the leather :D

Hey! No fair I trying to stay low profile haha.
Yeah looks like a Problem but I have been bending mine so much ,
That the headband seems quite loose.
I will check tonight if the metal is bendable to be changed shape.

I'm expecting a Lawton Tunning for these to be out soon. I'm still disappointed to hear that mods are welcomed/needed for yet another Denon Flag Ship... so the question now is how does a Modded D7200 compete with a modded D7000? Or D5000 for that matter, since you can get a modded D5k for about the same price as a Stock D7200

True but the mods often made them darker and cleaned up the overall sound changing the signature quite a bit, so hopefully some one who has both will chime in... I ultimately sold my D5k because I felt it was too linear, too balanced, it had similar qualities to my HE 4, but with more warmth and a more natural not as ZIPPY timbre, in stock form... can't recall any one describing that way... after modding it was never lush, I had to pair it with my Project Starlight at the time to get the mid range back to a more natural sound, as the mods left it quite dry

Still, Ideally I'd love to have a Modded D2/5/7k measured... and not to point fingers but I've heard @Bill-P has a nicely modded D5k, I'm curious how it compares directly to the 7200? Be nice to see it measured as well,

In Eikon thread, I posted some pics of the rear of most those biocellulous drivers,
And only the Eikon and Dennon have:
    Latest drivers.
    Largest rear structure
    Widest voice coil

    With those attributes,
I fully expected these two to have Greater control, size, and detailing over past biocellulous units, and although they are Improvements,
neither are living up 100% to their potential.

I am dissapointed so many cans (in general) are focused on signature and not resolution.
An example of signature, is Lawton wood cups.
    Euphoric signatures over resolution.

Utopia set the bar for resolution.
Why can't we see more Utopia level cans..

    Edit:
Don't get me wrong, I like color over sterile, but transparency to me is greater goal

    Yep,
No metal there, just a strip of plastic in middle...
I guess some more padding can try slip inside the headband although I not sure how much access to get there once two screws on sides of headband are removed.
Yep the headband curvature is just as Marvey says.
Too bad the headband design this way.
    Edit:
You can crush/squeeze the top center to flex more and it becomes a bit softer

I've never much bought into his Wood Cups, but the Driver/housing tune up and the Pads make a big improvement to resolution!

I agree though the Eikon has really everything! Amazing resolution and a beautiful sound signature

I actually JUST sold my Modded W1000X... I can happily say it took 4 years before I heard anything that felt like a worthy upgrade

I modded my own D5000s with the full dynamat messy treatment. I initially thought it made a big difference until I compared to a stock D5000. Really don't feel D5000/7000 sound all that close to D7200. D5000/7000 bass seems to bleed into mids more for a lusher presentation, and mid suckout is very evident. D7200 are darkish and don't have a mid suckout in comparison.

    Me too.
    Yep.
I found it very forward in whole mids area,
But what was very key for me to keep mine,
Was this unique bass slam factor...

It has a very good type of slam that I feel really satisfying over most others I have tried.

Yet, Its another can that needs to be moded to adjust its signature.

The issue with modding this can,
is that the inside cup cannot be full of materials because the bass slam rely on the air flow to its ported design.

On another note, I have some new pads Coming in tomorrow which I hope to be a great help for these cans.
    Will update soon.
    :)

Hi Buddy yes I owned both of them and just sold the Eikon and hd800.

Surprisingly they both sounded great because they are both sensitive headphones compared to my Planars.

I feel it is exaggerated about how Eikon sounds with different amps.
The Eikons actually seemed more forgiving because of the higher impedance it was less prone to background hiss.
The Eikon has just a great balanced signature while the Dennon was a bit shouty and forward, but great resolution..

So both these cans work fine for most amps, unlike the Planars.

Well the devil is in the details, with the right amp/cable resolve improves imo ymmv

I am now using the Ether electrostat pads:
    20170725_144919.jpg
    :)
    20170725_144937.jpg
    :)

So they fit on the clip on ring exactly and the stop right at the clips.
They are an exact diameter to look like they were made fornthe Dennon, more so than the Ori wich seemed very thick and they covered the rear clips a bit.

The inner diameter is just huge:
    20170725_145006.jpg

While these new pads gave me the most clarity of any pad, like the bigger Audeze pads.

Yet they fell miserably short on bass..
That is, until I realized , just like the Audeze pads, they needed an "attenuation ring" ring somewhat like what the thx00 cans use.

I was able to get all the bass back, but I am currently using a temporary leather ring inside until I find the right material that will give me more balanced signature,
As now my can is nicely detailed with nice decent soundstage,
but still slightly v shaped in signature because of pad.

    So far,
there hasn't been a perfect pad without modifications.

Woops, I forgot to add that my Dennon 7200 ia no longer stock as I modded both damping and driver itself..

So anyways the slight Vshape may actually work out just right for a stock Dennon which has forward mids..
Just remember you need to get or make rings to put inside these pads (and Audeze pads) for bass .
