Film Soundtracks...

As a fan of electronic music, I've been digging into film soundtracks recently & there's some great stuff out there, even in the mainstream. A couple of examples I've been listening to recently...

Nice, anything by Jóhann Jóhannsson has to be worth a listen.

I'm also a fan of Johannson's work. I've been listening to his latest Orphee quite a lot lately though that one is not actually a soundtrack.

 

Agreed, big fan of his stuff, and Orphee is excellent.

 

The other album of his that I've listened to a lot lately is And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees which actually is a soundtrack from an indie animated film.

My two favorite tracks from that one -

 

Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Alexandre Desplat, and James Horner all have some good soundtracks behind them. Not a hit every time, but certainly some good ones in there.

 

This flim beyond the black rainbow has this track which i've always remembered the flim for. There are other good one from the movie but this strikes me the most.

 

Ennio Morricone has a bunch of good stuff. Here's one of his more famous ditties

 

Giorgio Moroder has been brought back into the spotlight by Daft Punk. He also has a whole slew of 70's and 80's soundtracks and albums he produced.

I really like the music from "The Island"



My only complaint is that most of the tracks on the soundtrack are too short.

 

Somehow, no one has mentioned the Blues Brothers

 

Angelo Badalamenti - I am particularly fond of his work with David Lynch.

The Pink Room - From the soundtrack to "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me".
