You know "Ghost In The Shell" is awesome. No need to ask...

Another composer who isn't in as many films but is in trailers/promos galore - Jo Blankenburg. He writes some of the most inspiring stuff I've heard.

Yes, Jo is also one of my favourites. Not sure which to like more, Vendetta or Elysium. :)

Best use of a Doors song that i have seen in a film. Such great editing in this opening.....

I very much enjoy the music of Joe Hisaishi who has written the music for most of the Studio Ghibli films. His soundtrack for My Neighbor Totoro is one of his best - very atmospheric and complements the story so well.

I think Jerry Goldsmith is very under-rated. His soundtrack to the Wind and the Lion is wonderful.

Only lovers left alive soundtrack is one of the best records I've ever heard.

Not always a fan of Philip Glass, but really loved his music for The Hours.

Okay...file tagging. How do you all handle soundtracks? They can be VERY frustrating for me. I hate the dreaded Various Artists tag, but when I get away from that and try to tag an artist for each track, things often get funky in foobar (not all showing up under the same album, etc.).

I’ve run into this issue since I have a lot since I have a bunch of soundtracks. iTunes has a special album sort category with groups albums first and then it ordered by artists. I don’t know how other players do it.

Personally, I use individual artists in the artist tag, and either "Various Artists" or "Soundtrack" in the album artist tag.

I've always loved Cliff Martinez' score for Soderbergh's Solaris. It's a beautiful soundtrack but also stands on its own as an ambient album.

Saw Tron: Legacy, Interstellar, Inception, and Ghost in the Shell as I was scrolling through which are all fantastic, but a more recent film that had me jamming in my seat in-between all the action was Marvel's "Black Panther." Both the album (produced by Kendrick Lamar) and the original score (composed by Ludwig Göransson) were fantastic. Here are two of my favorite selections from each:

Who knew that the guys that wrote Africa and Rosanna did the Dune soundtrack (with Brian Eno).

I’ve read that Denis Villeneuve is going to have a crack at a Dune reboot. It’s too bad that his past collaborator Jóhann Jóhannsson has passed away because I think he could have done an absolutely brilliant score for a Dune movie.

This one doubles as great woofer stretching track:

H.Zimmer has the best quality analog samples and output mix in the industry.
    Not gray or compressed.
