    Hi everyone,

I'm selling my EC 2A3 mkIV tube amplifier setup as well as a bunch of tubes I have accumulated during my time with it. Due to the weight, shipping will be a separate cost and have to be calculated depending on the location of the buyer. I also strongly advise any serious buyer to consider a pick up if possible. I’m located in the west of France, and actually only 1 hour away from London Stansted by plane.

All prices are net to me, and I would like to keep this sale Friends only, unless special conditions.

    Eddie Current 2A3MKIV amplifier 2500€

This is unit #3, originally bought from Eddie Current by Zerodeefex. It has not been converted to the european voltage, and is operating at 110V, but that’s hardly a problem with a voltage converter. When asked, Craig answered that it wasn’t a problem at all, and was likely adding some filtration on the main power supply.

In terms of sound, it’s actually not easy to describe how this amplifier sound, because it will depend heavily on the tube configuration. In my setup, LM ericsson 5824+ Kron 2A3 X Kenrads 2A3, I managed to make it sound almost solid state-like, with just that slight mids emphasis that is typical of good tube amps, but without overdoing it. I value technicality, dynamics, and linearity above all other qualities, and my tube setup is a reflection of that.

My setup was on display during the Paris private meet we had last January, and impressions about my gear are located in the following thread: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.or...sbaf-private-meeting-impressions-thread.3706/
Moreover, you can actually tailor the sound of this amplifier, by playing with the tube configuration, and that’s why I’m including a bunch of driver and rectifier tubes. Power tubes can be purchased separately, of course.

What you get in this package :
    1. Eddie Current 2A3 MKIV amplifier
    2. Power supply
    3. 4 pairs of 5842 driver tubes including 1 pair of Raytheon, 1 pair of RCA, 1 pair of Amperex JEP (+ 1 spare tube), 1 pair of LM Ericsson.
    4. 3 pairs of PSU rectifiers, 1 pair of Svetlana 6D22S, 1 pair of speshal sauce RCA EY500, 1 pair of Siemens EY500A.

    2A3 power tubes (separate sale)

1 pair of Ken rads double mono plates. 250€

Slightly used (about 150h max) NOS 2A3, very good extension and technicality without the sylvania treble etch. They have been recognized as one of the best 2A3s for a long time now.

1 pair of Military Ken rads double mono plates. 300€

Military version of the same double mono plates design (CKR2A3), they are specced to last 10k hours, versus 6k hours for the typical 2A3. Same sound as the regular Ken Rads.

1 pair of used Krons mono plates. 300€

Same krons as before but made in 2006, slightly different construction, but virtually indistinguishable from the 2016 version. Those have been used for about 400 hours, but they work as new. This pair is also fully respecting the original 2A3 specs.

All above 2A3s reserved until further notice.

1 pair of New Krons mono plates. 450€

To me the very best 2A3 available. New production bought 6 months ago, used for testing and burn in purpose only, as I have another pair for listening purpose. Those tubes have the best technicality, I've heard on the mkIV. Extension resolution, midrange, dynamics, it's all there.

Please note that kron can be a hit or miss on their production unfortunately. The main problem is they can ship tubes that are low on the 2A3 specs. The consequences of this situation is that SOME krons can behave in a funny way in SOME amplifiers. This pair is fully respecting the original 2A3 specs, NOT one of those low specced krons.

    5842/417a driver tubes (separate sale)

    LM Ericsson 5842/417a. 160€/pair

I absolutely love this driver, it is the most linear and technical 5842 I have ever heard, and I have heard pretty much all of them (Raytheon, Amperex/RCA, Western Electric, save for GEC 5842, which is said to be gooey). I love it so much I actually splurged a little and bought too many pairs.I have a NOS quad, and a NOS pair available. 6 unused tubes, apart from testing of course, in total.

All Ericsson drivers reserved until further notice.

    Thanks for reading.

This is an awesome amp for a lucky future owner! I've owned most of the EC line except for the Studio and 445 and this has been the keeper. Best balance for me for dynamics and resolution without sacrificing warmth.
